What's new

July 15 Summer league Jazz v Nuggs

Hayward doesn't have a good history of jump shooting nor of being anything more than a role player.

You don't pay role players the max. We learned nothing from the AK47 debacle. It's that simple.

Was he laying the ball up from the 3pt line all those other years? What am I missing?

Looked at the box score, seems like some of "The Others" got burn? Do I need to know anything else about tonight's game?

I have 46 rep power burning a hole in my pocket for a good recap or a pic of a mega hot babe. I mean MEGA!

My apologies for getting back on topic, but any theories why Exum has virtually disappeared the last two games? I realize that it's only summer league, and his conditioning is poor, but even early in the game tonight he was rather passive. He is a much better player when he attacks. I just wonder if he is holding back because he doesn't want to tire quickly or if there is something else going on.

He is just an unselfish player I guess.

The argument never changed. Hayward isn't a good shooter and he isn't the max. If you want to argue about the shooting then please actually address the whole role player and max thing. No point in paying him the max if his production could basically be replaced by Burks, Exum, or Hood.

You're passionate about the jazz. It's awesome. But you keep moving the goal posts in these discussions and it makes it exhausting to have an exchange which is why people end up throwing up the white flag.

I don't think anyone is over the moon about paying Hayward that money. I was unhappy. But now, it's done. I get WHY they did it instead of letting him walk and the reality is, it's a 4 year deal, and this notion it set back the rebuild is insanely premature.

We haven't missed out on a FA or dropped a player because of it. We retained a guy that team usa and apparently the Jazz believe is very valuable. I'd have paid him 12 max. But we lose him unless we match and at this point, with our new coach and players id like to see Hayward playmake and get them involved and see how it works out. I think he's a net positive for the team even if he cost a lot.

So just take a deep breath and you can be a skeptic, that's fine, but no need to throttle Hayward at every opp

No problem with someone being skeptical, but stop beating a dead horse and being annoying.

If you really want to the world to know how you feel about Hayward, write a short blurb about it in your sig. Just stop repeating your same **** over and over again. I realize 80% of the post on this board are just repeating stuff, but you take it to a whole new level.

We all knew Exum would struggle with conditioning right out of the gate. It was pretty obvious it would be a wake up call. I think he'll transform himself this year.
Should be fun to watch. The struggles will be hard at some points, but he'll shown enough flashes to keep us excited.

Hood is streaky. No shocker. He's still no CJ Miles.

I think the Thomas kid. He needs to be on our bench.

Trey with a good game. Really like the way Trey is leading the team. He looks so much better than last year's SL.

Knew Exum would struggle with that stuff too, but not this badly. Not super concerned, just surprised. He has gotten winded 3 minutes into each 2nd half so far and shows really bad body language about being tired. Got to suck it up and act like you aren't tired to the best of your abilities, don't really see him trying to do that.

I think people underestimate just how long it's been since he's played in a competitive 5-on-5 setting. He'll be fine. I'm sure he'll take his lumps rookie year, he's quite raw. But holy hell, I saw enough that first game. This kid is talented.

One thing is for sure our offense is so much more interesting to watch. Can't believe how awful it was to watch with Ty the Turd.

Spacing, ball movement, penetration. This team is going to be so much fun to watch!
Just imagine what Burks can do when the middle isn't clogged up.

Again, could you imagine. Malone or Stockton missing any game for fear of hurting their shoulder more?

If you're injured that's one thing.
If you're hurt, that's another.

I'd like us to bring the toughness back. The reports from the past few years have been that our training room has been filled with guys missing practice and nursing owwies. Yet, during the S2M era, never did they have more than 2 players in the training room. And when they were there, it was for legit injuries that kept them out for weeks. Read that in the trib a year or two ago.

Based off reading all your posts in this thread and reading at least 5 times that you would like to see the Jazz bring toughness back and encourage toughness. I am guessing that you would like to see the Jazz encourage more toughness?? Just a guess. I agree with you but...... Summer league is not exactly when I would send a guy out on the court to play through a sprained ankle. I have played sports before (as you asked in a previous post) and I know that a minor injury can become a major injury if you play through it. I am also happy that you read about injuries during the Stockton to Malone era, I don't have to read about it because I remember it. There were the same precautions that there are today. Players today may be a little closer to their girly side, and cry about injuries, yes. But Stockton and Malone were rarely injured because of a combination of toughness, luck and maybe a bit of superstition. When asked how they had avoided injuries after so many years they said that they were the only 2 players on the team that would soak their legs in a large bucket of ice water for 30-45 minutes after and before every game. They both felt it preserved their legs from ankle and knee injuries. They also said that this was something that they came up with on their own and no trainer instructed them to do this.

Run Riot is the first thought-I love the movement Im seeing so far in SL, I know its SL but at least we're getting glimpses of what may be later.
both Exum and Hood are playing like they should have been drafted much Higher who knows given time Exum might as well have been a top 2 or 3 pick and Hood a late lottery-no complaints here.
The success of Parker and Gordon on Bucks, magic comes down to their team mates and being used to their strengths- Exum could well move past them

Mods, how is this not a personal attack? How isn't this a violation of rules? He sent me this via neg rep (actually, he called me a retard) and now this.

You've been Reported.
Dont act a certain way and people wont treat you a certain way.
