As ill-stated as the OP is, I'd take Lance at 9mil over GTime at 16m every day of my life. Especially at 3 years and I'm gonna guess there is a player option for the 3rd as Lance will most assuredly opt out after 2 and get a big raise when the TV deal kicks in.

We are just risk averse and that's why we will always be know as that solid organization that will never win it all.
