Being a Jazz fan from 1994 it was really difficult to follow media in pre-Internet era hence lots of rivalry backgrounds are not clear to me.
Jazz fans, please post your most hated NBA teams of all times which gave you a reason to hate them as a Jazz fan. Detailed explanations would be highly appreciated as well.

1. Lakers
2. Lakers
3. Lakers

Okay now here's my serious list.

1. Lakers
2. Bulls (mainly Jordan era, obviously)
3. Spurs

1. Lakers (seriously this team has been the bane of the Jazz's existence since Magic was drafted).

2. SAS (the Spurs have always seemed to match up better against the Jazz)

3. Rockets (beat us on our 2 good chances at winning a title)

...although we've lost more than our share of games to the Lakers, we've had some of our biggest triumphs and mose memerable sweeps against them, too! I'd have to rate the Bull's as the most hated rival. Losing those two finals, especially the last one to them still leaves the bitterist of taste in the mouth, don't ya think???

1.Lakers - Hate their players. Hate a lot of their fans. Hate how they get everything they want all the time. If they were losers for the next 50 years I would be happy.
2.Nuggets - Hate their players too. Kind of like George Karl though.
3.Rockets - A-hole fans mostly. Respected Hakeem (a true legend) but haven't liked many other of their players.

Lakers - because they own us. because they are from LA. because they have a known criminal. + 1 for jack, and their cheerleaders though.
Houston - because their fan base is ugly, angry, and sad. we own them though. they were given the Yao curse for their sins over eating, and being poor sports.
Denver - they are close, and they are dangerous. Sloan can smell their tats, bongs, and headbands from over the rocky boarder. but now that their best player is defecting this may change.

Lakers (omg seriously?)
Bulls (childhood rivalry)
Rockets (the historic playoff battles, overweight donkey hole fanbase)

Honorable Mentions
Spurs (hate tony p so much)
Nuggets (would be higher, but the franchise is kinda a joke)
Blazers (franchise also a joke, hate on their current FO + Mngmt)

1. Lakers - obvious reasons...what everyone else said
2. Nuggest - Division rivals since time immemorial. Jackass players currently. Coach Karl deserves props though and needs to get out of there and get on a less jackassy team.
3. Houston - recent years rivals, but dates back to 1995 and the 2 years they took us out to get to the finals. I hated them then and hate them now. How do they always seem to get irritating players.

The Bulls are no longer such a hated team, I think. They have been such an example of extreme suckitude since MJ left that they are no longer on our radar until this year and all they are now is Jazz lite.

The Spurs are probably #4. They have been a thorn in our side for a long time. They are a solid organization though and for the most part have had decent players, except the current big 3 are whiny little pansy-asses, although they are very very good. I cannot stand Ginobli or however u spell it. Flop and whine master supreme. Get off the floor, stop yer bitching and play you moran.

In the future I foresee Miami being a hated team. I don't like 2 of their big 3 (I don't mind Bosch, but cannot stand LBJ and Wade). And anytime you stack the deck on purpose to steal a championship it won't sit well with most folks, hence the LA hatred after acquiring Gasol for a ham sandwich and some glow-in-the-dark condoms.

Dallas cause Dirk refuses to breath through his nose

It's a European thing. Seriously. Watching Divacs, Stojakovic, Turkeyglue, Okur, etc. they all play with their mouths hanging open.

As far as the most hated teams...

Lakers (the team)
Lakers (because of their retarded band-wagoning fan base)
Rockettes (mostly due to their retarded fan base)

1. Lake-show. This one's become even more clear since I live in la-la land and play ball regularly with a bunch of Kobe-lovers
2. Denver. Crymelo and the thugs, need I say more?
3. Porty. Trying and failing and trying and succeeding to take our talent when they can't develop their own.
4. Miami. Bronnie and "the decision" placed me firmly in the anti-camp

1.) Portland - the whole "Jailblazers" thing rubbed me the wrong way. I detested Rasheed and Mighty Mouse matching up against Karl and John since I could count on them ('Sheed and Mouse) complaining nonstop to the refs.
2.) Sacramento - that 5 game series back in 1999 somehow solidified it for me. It was flash (Jason Williams) vs. substance (Johnny Stock) and I hated how the Kings were the league darling since they were exciting while the Jazz were universally panned since they were "boring" and "predictable."
3.) Rockets - basically what everyone else has said.
3a.) LAL - though I respect Kobe's tenacity and work ethic re: preparation and conditioning, I cannot stand Gasol and RonRon.

1. Rockets (I just hate their fans with a white hot passion, with a couple of notable exceptions)
2. Lakers (no explanation should be needed)
3. Dallas (I can't stand Dirk and Cuban's shtick).

Rockets fan base seems to hate us a lot more than we hate them. I haven't hated the rockets that much since T-mac left. I just don't care for their dumb fan base.

I'd say top 3 most hated:
1. Spurs - the team that just seems to never go away, they keep winning, i can see jazz franchise hated for that same thing but the spurs won championships and honestly i am a bit jealous. They were waiting for us in our run to the WCF, would have been a great finals with the cavs, but they denied us that.
2. Trailblazers - trying to steal jazz players i can't blame them but i still hate them for it, and through the years I never really liked them
3. Lakers - while i don't hate the team as much(i dont' really hate kobe, i hate fisher and phil jackson), their fan base is probably the worst in the nba, an arrogant bunch

This thread is screaming for a poll. Include Lakers, Rockets, Nuggets, Blazers, Mavs, Heat, Bulls, Spurs, Hornets, Suns and see where it ends up. I have not done a poll before can you set it to accept like 3 answers from each poster?

2.) Sacramento - that 5 game series back in 1999 somehow solidified it for me. It was flash (Jason Williams) vs. substance (Johnny Stock) and I hated how the Kings were the league darling since they were exciting while the Jazz were universally panned since they were "boring" and "predictable."

.

So funny about the Kings. Oh, they were the NBA darlings. The Maloofs were apparently the greatest owners in sports. They were destined for greatness. Jason Williams and Webber were the next Stock/Malone.
Where did they go? One conf finals. One! Since then, nothing. How great are the Maloofs now? What happened to all those "great fans"? What happened to the cowbells?

1 - Lakers: they are the baby of the NBA and get everything they want (because they can afford it). Also their fan base makes me sick. All you have during Laker home games is 1/2 the time spent commentating on what celebrities are there and away games all you get is a bunch of posers who found a Kobe jersey on e-bay during a history class in their 3rd try of community college and can somehow afford a sweet sound system in their POS car.

2 - Don't care
3 - Don't care
