Burke Invited To The US Select Team

It didn’t seem to matter to USA Basketball, though, as Burke’s representatives said he was invited to join the USA Select team. The group of young players will practice against the U.S. national team during its Las Vegas training camp next week. Detroit Free Press

Awesome, I think experiences like these are great for young talents. Gordon and Trey will be surrounded by some of the best players in the NBA.

Burke does need to spend some time working on his game though. Especially the 3pt shooting, finish around the rim and the mid post floater. He also needs to get a lot quicker. His shooting/finish will become much more important also now that Exum will do a lot of the ball handling.


I just hope this doesn't distract him too much and he'll still find time to work on those aspects of his game.

They picked Burke because they wanted to give the US Team a feel for what kind of defenses they will go up against.

I heard that Burke said that Jazz need to draft a legit Center. Complete disrespect to Kanter, Favors, and Gobert. Also Burke mentioned Stauskis was the best shooter he has ever played with (granted his statement was probably true but he never mentions anyone on the Jazz as good). It seems he feels he is too good for the Jazz or something. I really have a feeling Burke thinks he is better than he thinks he is moreso than most players. The only thing promising about Burke is that he has a very very nice Assist/TO ratio (Top 10 in the entire NBA). Everything else sucks, his athleticism sucks, his height sucks, his defense sucks, his shooting sucks. His rookie year stats and height are very similar to Johnny Flynn. Johnny didn't last 5 years in the NBA.

a little different as Flynn had a hip injury he didn't disclose to the Wolves when they were drafting him but i agree that Burke is just a wee bit too cocky for his own good. I like it that he has confidence, but I think still needs to work a lot of things before he can become the leader of our team (DL mentioned this a few times).

It's one thing not liking a players impact, play style, or abilities. It's another not liking the player and it's clear which is which when you see post like some of the ones here.

You want a whole thread were everyone is saying "congrats Burke" over and over again? This isn't facebook where it is someones birthday. I am concerned when Burke keeps getting accolades when I don't feel he deserves it and believe it will reinforce his belief that he is a good player when he needs to improve on everything and had a very disappointing rookie season and completely underachieved.

If can adopt any kind of small tips on how to improve anything from his shooting to his work out regiment this is good for him as a pro.
