And I feel the same. Most of the time there are some pretty "meh" players at the end of the bench. Not with Utah. Even if Clark comes back, he should be a different player under Quin. I think several are underestimating the Booker and Felix acquisitions. Booker is a workhorse and Felix will be fun to watch on defense.

I'm really excited about this trade because it means the Jazz don't have a single player currently on the roster that I don't want to see play.

Usually there are a handful of guys on the roster that I never want to see on the court, but not anymore. There is something to look forward to, and be excited about from every single player on the roster.

Do have a few expiring contracts which could be traded at the deadline. My guess is that the remaining roster spots (Motum and a 3rd PG?) might be 2-year contracts, with the 2nd year a team option.

It is really interesting that DL is deciding to pretty much forgo having any veteran players at all. Guess he either thinks the younger "vets" are old enough to carry the team emotionally, or he was just traumatized by what happened last year.

I think EVERYONE except Corbin, RJ and JLIII was traumatized. But yes, I am a bit surprised JLIII was traded. Everyone thought he was being kept for his "leadership." Guess DL believes guys like Novak - and even a rookie like Hood - can be the voices in the locker room. Also think we've seen Favors step up. Says a lot to have him working out with the summer league players.

Novak is toward the bottom of the list for sure but a string of a few 3s is always fun. I think he will have a nice year with us because of Exum, and Burks driving ability. If Snyder can develop an offense that really caters to our players strengths then Novak should get plenty of open shots this year, and he doesn't miss open shots.

For sure going to be an unprecedented season for the Jazz. Jefferson, and Marv last year were a very positive influence on the team but I believe it held back our younger guys from really becoming leaders, especially Hayward. Jefferson seemed to always be "coaching" Hayward and Haywards body langue was never positive from it. I think its hard for young guys to lead the team when there are vocal vets on the team like that.

Vets are cool if they can actually play. I'm sure DL tried to grab a vet but maybe the price wasn't right or they just simply weren't interested in being part of this team at this stage.

As much as i hate on Trey, i think he is easily our best "vocal leader" on the team. And its not even close imo

The way I see it due to his lack of size, Trey would have to do one or two of the following to be effective in the NBA:

1. Hit 3pt shot consistently

2. Get a lot quicker

3. Find a way to finish mid post or at the rim

4. Rack up HUGE assist numbers


If he could do 2 of those really well, I think he'll have a chance in the NBA.

I agree and i dont think he will ever be very good (i thought this when we drafted him btw)

But i do think he has very good leadership skills. (Smart, confident, carries himself well, vocal, tough, hard worker, etc)

He doesn't really need to finish at the rim better. Not a lot of PG's can do that, but he needs to learn how to draw contact down there and get to the FT line.

I think Q will be the leader of this team until one or two of the players step up. I like that there is no vet leadership. There are no vets to defer to and it allows guys with true leadership qualities to emerge. Also, with regard to Favors hanging around. Locke said something in his podcast about contract incentives for players to spend more time around the team and city in the offseason. I don't know if he was talking specifically about Jazz players or a trend in the league. Don't know if that applies to Favors or not, but I thought it was interesting.

I know it is more complicated than that and don't get me wrong, I like this move a lot, Felix has NBA size and body, defensive prowess, and the Jazz obviously liked him and pursued him and got him for "less than nothing" (Cavs paid his salary and got a second round pick).

I think it has a lot to do with the $1m he received. That should go a long way towards scouting (i.e., what PKM said about Jazz bulking up the scouting department).
