Coal Aldrich

How many jump shots did you see Shaq taking and making? Not that many. When I think of Shaq, it's down inside and Hammer dunks. An outside shot is nice to keep the defender honest, but it's not a necessity for a big, or a big that's a little less big than we thought. he he

I don't care what arguments you make about stat's. Aldrich is small for a center and he is slow. I watched many of his games last year, yes he looked slow, and I don't see him making an impact on this team. I can remember for almost a decade everyone complaining about Eaton and "if only we had a center that could score". The Brewer comparison is relevent because defenses will pack it in. A big slow stiff in the middle allows defenses to cover jump shooters. The fact is no matter who we draft, we will all complain. Better yet, I say draft him. We then complete the Pep Boys Trio of slow, white, stiffs: Manny Moe and Jack

Whoever we draft better be able to defend big adequately. It is just our luck that the Knicks couldn't have been a lot worse team. I wish right now we were talking Wall/Turner/Favors/Johnson/Cousins and not about Aldrich/Babbitt/Monroe/Whiteside. If we didn't have bad luck I guess we wouldn't have any luck.

You were watching entirely different games than me then (or not watching them at all, which is WAY more likely). How do fast do you expect a big man to move? He doesn't need to be leading the break. Go look at how well he tested at the combine. I have proof to back up my arguments and you have none. You are making a merit less argument based on stereotypes (sadly, you have plenty of company). Pathetic.

I honestly don't even know what to make of a statement like "a big slow stiff in the middle allows defenses to cover jump shooters". How do the Lakers win championships with Bynum if that's the case (who Aldrich moves better than)? How did Shaq win all of those NBA championships (who Aldrich also moves better than)? And better yet, what the hell does that have to do Aldrich's form on his jump shot? The arguments you are making are utter garbage.

The Jazz made the 2nd round of the playoffs and have a top 9 pick in the draft. Yeah, horrible luck. I think Nets fans would argue with that. They suffer through one of the worst seasons in NBA history and only have the 3rd pick to show for it. Get over it.

The Knicks were projected to be a lot worse than they were. The Jazz will end up eventually drafting someone who might make us marginally better and then we can say bye bye to Deron. Again, great luck there.....

All based on your own conjecture. There's still a long way to go before that happens (which it probably won't regardless)...no use worrying about it.

Do we have perimeter jump shooter minus deron and Kover that you thnk can consistently hit a jumper with a man in their face. We don't run the lakers offense for one thing and have no where near the talent. Shaq just busts people in the chops and Bynum jumps over them. Does Aldrich seem like a badass? Also (How do you know Aldrich moves better than Bynum? Running while getting knocked onto your azz are two different things.) If the jazz want a crappier version of Luke Walton I would trade Ronnie Price to the Lakers. Wait, even the role bench players on the Lakers are better than ours.

We need to quit focusing on a position and draft someone with proven talent and potential and has a heart. Jazz need less pansies on this team. They need someone to bust some noses with hard effort. Heart, Effort, and Passion. Not I get's mine, so i tried.

Aldrich is not the answer, trade the pick for a veteran.

I understand he tested out well. Have you ever heard of players testing out well that aren't able to replicate that in a real game? Nice one....

Let me guess, since he's white his game won't translate. I am producing facts, you are producing lame stereotypes or racism.

This post pretty much confirms to me that you have seen very little to none of Aldrich. One of Aldrich's biggest strengths is his physical play on both ends, particularly on defense. Heart, effort, and passion will never be an issue with him. So if that's really what you want, you just made the case for Aldrich.

I know Aldrich moves better than Bynum because I have seen both of them play. Aldrich moves significantly better.

Just because we have a lack of great jump shooters doesn't mean we shouldn't draft a big man. That's certainly an area that needs improving. But even more importantly, the Jazz need a defensive interior presence. Aldrich provides that.

Typical. Everyone on this board is complaining about stereotypes. Just because Aldrich sweats, jumps around, and gets red faced he plays with passion, effort, and heart. Those mean nothing without results. I "have" watched Aldrich. He is also older than most of the draft. He has the maturity and experience at the college level that allows him to exploit the younger college players. Aldrich will be no better than the Collins twins. Jarron played with heart and above his talent level. Did he make the Jazz a championship contender?

You're a moran. Aldrich is infinitely better than Collins. Collins max vert reach was 11'1" at the pre-draft combines. 11'1"!!!! That's horrific for a supposed big. Aldrich's which is below average or average at best for a big was waaaaaaaay better at 11'7.5". I'm not going to toot Aldrich's horn up and down. But he will bring some solid play to our organization. The question is, how solid.

Nice... I'm sold now. If I had an extra 6.5 inch reach I would be a hero too! This board needs a Xanax.

About as solid as one day old diarrhea.

If I were in the front office I would draft a big player based on one thing...race. No big white guys. For the most part, they ****ing suck.

I'll give y'all this- he's a polarizing figure. Just saw some video on Yahoo where Adrian Wojnarowski roasts him. It's not hard to find people that think he's going to be a bust that's for sure.
