Did Exum really say that???!!!???

Are you getting your emoticons externally (from the site)?

I thought that pile of poop would be great placed above your thumb.. but I couldnt find said pile.
Its on tapatalka right by the attachments buttons (represented by a smiley face)

He is saying "Hey, Im good with the ball, I need to take it upon myself to be more aggressive calling for the ball and making a play rather than being passive when Trey has it."

Not saying Trey can't play point, but when Trey is handling the ball initially, he needs to be more aggressive putting himself in position to make a play off the dribble rather than just saying "Hey, Trey has the ball, Im just going to stand in this spot"
This is exactly what he was saying. But I guess it's not as much fun as "reading between the lines".

But... but... Exum made a comment in summer league and that shows that he's unhappy and if he isn't happy 100% of the time then he isn't going to re-sign with the Jazz nine years from now when they no longer have matching rights! Trey Burke has killed our team nine years from now because he made Exum cry. The Jazz are going to be sold to Kansas City and we'll all have to become Phoenix fans. What is Dennis Lindsey thinking!!!!

I knew I was going to be irritated by clicking on a thread started by Hotnicky, but I did it anyway and yup, I was irritated. The only thing worse than verbal diarrhea on a message board is verbal diarrhea that thinks its gold. Hotnicky in a nutshell.

He did say it in a polite way. He has enough respect to Quin and Dennis to not say exactly what he really feels - you have to read between the line a little.

Nobody really knows what he truly feels (except himself & probably his dad) - but I do believe that when he say he's 'more comfortable at the point' it means he doesn't want to play off the ball.

"Nobody really knows what he truly feels, but I'm going to start a thread offering all of my insane predictions - and stating them as 100% factual, because I'm a moron - anyway." -Hotnicky

Its far to early to judge if Dante and Trey work. They are people before basketball players. Hell the two could be best friends in a month and want to play together for the rest of their careers. Far to early for all this stipulation and hyperbole.

Exum = Magic Johnson
Trey = Norm Nixon

This was Burke's 2nd Summer league. He should be out their controlling the game and playing at NBA starter abilities. Instead he shot terrible, did not make plays for his teammates and looked like crap. Exum was in his 1st SL as a 19 year old. He showed superior passing to Burke, And ran the team pretty well. He has a lot of room to grow but as a PG he's got more talent than Burke all while being seemingly on the same level as Burke right now.

Both you, and Hotnick, are seeing what you want to see. Exum had a negative assist to turnover ratio this SL. Burke had a positive ratio. Those crazy little things called facts.

If stats is all you need then the Jazz could have just hired you to head their scouting department. Just saying.

Speaking of which, Orlando has an international scouting department too, and they passed on Dante Exum with their biggest need at PG. They even got to put him through a workout. Things that make you go hmmmmm.

Who knows? But you don't set a summer league record in futileness unless something is very wrong. Its safe to say Burke's passes are just better timed and better placed at this point in their careers.
If you want to play the +/- angle, Burke had the best +/- of any starter on the Jazz last year, including our 68 million dollar man Hayward. It's safe to say then, by that number, Burke can run a team, and do it pretty damn well.

No, it isn't safe to say that.

Sounds like Exum was being more critical of himself for being passive. He said the system was "open" meaning there is freedom, so the choice of not getting the ball as much was his.

I only watched the first 3 SL games, but I noticed a lot of times where Exum was on the weak side, unguarded, with hand in the air and Burke never even looked at him. If a pg can't spot the open man, then he shouldn't be running the point.

I noticed this too. One time on a fast break Exum was wide open calling for the ball Burke instead took on two taller guys in the paint and got hacked.

Willing to bet that Utah's scouts and GM are better than Orlando's.
