Following potential 2015 draftees

We might only have to get kinda lucky if they change the lotto. If they do change it the bottom 2 teams won't be guaranteed to the degree they normally are.
The way our team is constructed now i actually hope they dont change the format. We'll play hard. Our young guys will learn the system, learn to play together, but still dont think we'll win many games.

You think we will get a bottom 3 record?

cuz it seems those are the only 3 spots that will lose balls.

lose balls tehe

The usual suspects will be there? Sixers. Bucks. Magic.

Hard to see any other teams joining them. Bos needs to win soon. Minny will be ok. Lakers wont be as bad.

When I saw BOS and MINNY I thought you were a racist. Then I saw Lakers and now I'm way perplexed.

If Corbin was still the coach, we could probably be a bottom 5 team again.

Different situations though. I honestly thought last year Marvin & Jefferson together won us a few more games than we should have won. No matter what the perception of them is here on JazzFanz, there's no doubt having them in the team last year got us off of the bottom 3.

This year we no longer have those guys, instead we've added Exum & Hood, talented guys albeit inexperienced.

Hood was a great pick.. but he ain't winning us dick n his rookie season.

Hopefully we'll get the same number of wins from last year, but it'll mean much more this year as it's purely from their own doing (without vet help like last year).

Sonics won 20 games the year they drafted Westbrook... and they were off with 2 potential Super Stars.

We still need 1 more.

I get that. Allow me to explain.

While his peers hit the AAU circuit and got in game shape, his parents (awesome people, with money, and very smart) decided to hire the best shooting coaches, dribbling instructors (NBA guys), and more skill mentoring, rather than just playing basketball and hitting the aerobic part of the game. They have said to Calipari that they felt this was a good move because it takes a long time to develop skill in relation to getting into great shape. They asked Cal if he would prefer a kid that's in great shape but needs to be taught the skills or the reverse. Cal laughed and said he had actually never thought about it, but said "we'll definitely get him in top physical condition".. and went on to say that while everyone is dribbling and shooting Towns will be running stairs... lol

For some reason when i read this, i think... well how rare is Thon Maker really. (+Rep if anyone can clarify this for me)

as crazy as it might sound my gut has always told me that theres something about Thon Maker thats too good to be true... I'm suspicious about his age, I wonder if theres been any work clarifying his age when he was in Sudan..

From what i remember when i researched it last year, Theres no record of his birth in Sudan. He moved to Australia at 5 and thats when he finally had any semblance of paperwork, I guess it would be strange to fudge a 5 year old's DOB but certainly stranger things have happened.

He just has more skills out on the floor and shooting touch than most 7 footers. I think he's a PF in the NBA, like, for sure.

He's a good shot blocker but his lateral quickness appears to be fairly average. Main thing is he needs to get stronger and in better shape (endurance).

If I had to write down an upside comparison looking at his skillset:

Dirk with more hops/defensive potential.

The last part is why I think he'll be a bigger matchup nightmare in today's NBA at the 5. A lot of Center are still not comfortable defending out to the 3 point line. He has some handles, his shooting potential is there and mechanics are already developed to a certain point. Passing isn't an arbitrary concept to him.

I just don't think he'd be good at defending the good current and next gen PFs. At PF he'd see guys like Davis, Durant, Parker + Giannis, Bosh, Melo, LeBron, Aldridge, Gallinari, Ibaka, Love, Millsap for the first half of his career.

That's just not favorable to guard for extended periods of time IMO.

Pair him with another skilled PF. Skill > Hops, ask the Spurs, Heat, Mavs, C's, Lakers.

Yes. Gobert is a near perfect match. Towns will be an offensive beast with average defense (if he's playing the 4).

That is a LOOOOONG front line.

I don't think he's going to be average at the 4. He'll score 20 but give up 22. (Don't take this literally)

Cya PKM, I learned much from ya about all things UK, many thanks Amigo. My time here is done though.. I tried to stick around. /shrug
