Child firing Uzi at Ariz. shooting range accidentally kills instructor

And how having a gun saves you if the other guy has a gun too? Brake ins, roberies and other small crime will happen unfortunately. Having more guns does not make your country any safer. See Japan for example... gun related crime is 0.001 % there or so. Scandinavian countries - almost zero as well. Basically non existent. You guys need to change your mentality and culture more than gun laws. Now I understand that it is largely impossible to do anything quickly in USA due to amount of firearms in the country. But something needs to be done.

bu training with a gun.

robbers dont spent time training.

they think the gun gives them all the power. they overestimate the power of a gun sometimes.

So Heyhey, do you see a problem in USA leading whole world by far in child related gun death and accidents? And what needs to be done to get that number down to average European country number for example?
Switzerland has more guns per capita than USA, yet their numbers of gun related crimes and accidents are nowhere near USA. What's the difference? Why you Americans can't be as good as Swiss? Isn't one of God's commandments is "thou shall not MURDER"? How come mostly atheist countries are doing so much better in that regard?
FIXED,. it is a common translation error bro.

I'm not trying to make a point here. AKMVP seemed completely ignorant of why people would ever need guns besides for hunting. I was filling him in on the concept behind our 2nd Amendment. That is all.

If you believe that a group of people capable of overthrowing the current institutions of the USofA, establishing a tyrannical dictatorship, and managing to to get the army either on their side or neutralized could somehow be stopped by a bunch of random people waving small arms, I'd love to have whatever you're smoking. Or snorting.

The range says on its Facebook page: "We separate ourselves from all other Las Vegas ranges with our unique 'Desert Storm' atmosphere and military style bunkers."

Bullets and Burgers is part of a tourism niche offering packages costing up to $1,000 to shoot different high-powered weapons. The range offers bachelorette parties, birthdays and weddings events. It is one of at least a dozen gun ranges in the Las Vegas area catering to tourists from around the world.

Apparently the motto of "Bullets and Burgers" is "Let 'er rip!"

Yes!!! Let's have a bunch of drunk bridesmaids firing Uzis. Won't those make memorable photos and get all kinds of comments on Facebook and Instagram. Maybe even turn it into a drinking game for more thrills. Gives new meaning to the term shotgun wedding.

I'm sorry folks, this place is designed primarily for entertainment, not education. Anyone who thinks these parents brought their child(ren) here to learn about gun safety is nuts. They came so their kid could go back to school with a really unique show-and-tell.

Guess they got that, didn't they?

So sad on so very many levels.

Not a single comment in response? Obviously there are wide gulfs in our opinions on this topic, but I would think even the most ardent supporters of the right to own guns would find something a little out of kilter in this concept.

So I guess it really is just for the thrills and entertainment value.

I was at work when I read you comment so I didn't respond.

I have to assume they don't serve alcohol there and do not allow you to bring alcohol onto the premises. I would hope they also make it very clear that alcohol and firearms do not mix at all in any way.

I have always had very hard rules for myself related to firearms handling and alcohol. Basically, if I've had a sip I don't touch a gun. At all, period. Not to clean them, not to admire them, nothing. If my house were being broken into and I had been drinking and a gun was available to me within arms reach I wouldn't use it.

I have always felt that if a gun were available and the situation clearly called for it I would be more than comfortable using a firearm as a means of self defense (meaning to arm myself before going into a possible life threatening confrontation). But I feel much more strongly that in a case where there is any doubt whatsoever I have to accept that I might have to put my life at risk and maybe die before ever taking a questionable shot. Taking a questionable shot, in my opinion, is never acceptable. Better for me to die than for me to end an innocent person's life.

I actually wanted to start a gun related thread while I was banned, but decided the last thing Jazzfanz needed was another gun thread. But my views on firearms are somewhat in flux. I still support gun rights, but I have been completely turned off by the pro-gun community and I absolutely do not feel that I am a part of that community any longer.

9 year olds shouldn't be shooting guns let alone automatic weapons.

It's that simple.

I think the blind adherence to the 2nd amendment which has become our 1st and only amendment and new God, is making people dumber than ever.

9 year olds shouldn't be handling guns.

Our country is so fed up when we fear loving same sex partners, weed, and booze yet somehow feel fine with a 9 year old With an Uzi.

well you are free when or if you have 9 year olds to not make them shoot guns.
i am free to when i have a 9 year old to make her shoot whatever guns i think he/she could safely and responsibly handle.
we are not forcing you to to let your 9 year olds shoot or carry uzis.

however teh gays or forcing us to accept and preform their "marriage."
case in point:
A husband and wife who were fined $13,000 and told they could not discriminate against same-sex couples after refusing to allow a gay wedding on their New York farm have announced that they will “no longer host any wedding ceremonies on their property.”

“Going forward, [Cynthia and Robert Gifford] have decided to no longer host any wedding ceremonies on their property (other than the ones already under contract),” Alliance Defending Freedom attorney James Trainor told TheBlaze in a statement.

A judge ruled earlier this month that the Giffords’ farm is a public accommodation because they rent their space out, and they therefore must abide by New York anti-discrimination law.

“Since the order essentially compelled them to do all ceremonies or none at all, they have chosen the latter in order to stay true to their religious convictions, even though it will likely hurt their business in the short run,” Trainor said.

With this line of thinking, why even have laws or a government?

It always amazes me the "selective libertarianism" which exists so prevalently today. We look at some important things that most definitely impact all of society like guns or questionable business practices (ie inversion) there shouldn't be any regulation. yet maintain an unhealthy obsession to control lesser important aspects of other peoples' lives.

Amazing.

I have yet to meet a libertarian that actually followed their dogma even somewhat consistently. They're all pretty insincere and inconsistent with their actual practices.
