2014 College Football

If you can't see how this is easier than playing the likes of Ohio st. Mich st. Wisconsin Iowa Nebraska etc. or Oklahoma st. Oklahoma Baylor KState etc., then Idk what to say.
This is a pointless conversation. The perception that power 5 conference = jugerrnaut schedule full of tough games is just to ingrained in many of the sheeps minds.
seriously though, look at ohio states schedule below
Ohio states schedule this year..... NAVY, virginia tech, KENT STATE, cincinnatti, maryland, rutgers, penn state, illinois, michigan state, minnesota, indiana, michigan.

Great point
I'll give you an epic 7 week (no open dates) stretch from my alma mater's schedule last year

Texas
@ Texas Tech
@ Baylor
Oklahoma St.
@ Kansas St.
TCU
@ Oklahoma

BYU is probably 2-5 in that stretch last year. Maybe 3-4 if they can escape Lubbock.

I found those stats comparing Hill and Wilson. Granted, these are from last year and Hill has improved, but here is Wilson vs Hill when healthy and against BCS teams:

Completion %:

Wilson 62%
Hill 48%

Yards per game:

Wilson 273
Hill 238

TD's:

Wilson 14
Hill 10

INT's:

Wilson 7
Hill 10

Rushing TD's

Wilson 6
Hill 6

QB Rating

Wilson 98
Hill 65

QBR

Wilson 149
Hill 103

ESPN QBR

Wilson 98
Hill 69

Wilson was significantly better than Hill in every category. It wasn't even close. What was the difference? What made Hill look so good last year? All the mid-major teams BYU played.

Hill has gotten a lot better so far. Wilson is the #2 rated passer in the country. Again, Wilson is better. It's not even close.

I used to make these arguments too when I was the fan of a mid major school. It's very cute. ;)

Nebraska
Wyoming (5-7), Southern Miss (1-11), UCLA (10-3), South Dakota St (Div 2?), Illinois (4-8), Purdue (1-11), Minn (8-5), Northwestern (5-7), Michigan (7-6), Michigan St (13-1), Penn st (7-5), Iowa (8-5), Georgia (8-5)

Two ranked, one Div 2, 5 with losing records I'm sure they were beat up with that S. Dakota St to Purdue stretch, no time to heal up
Doesn't look better, looks about the same.

Whatever though, don't really care. I just think you're hyping the "power" conference schedules when they have crappy teams in there too and it's not that different than last year. This year, yea, way different.
Most BIG and Big12 had more difficult schedules than BYU last year. You may have found one exception, congrats. If you continue looking for them, try the BIG teams because they don't play every team in the conference. They have potential for weaker schedules.

Yep. I'm hyping the power conferences and the Coug's aren't hyping their mid major schedule at all.

@ green. Taysom left stanford for one reason only..... His coach left for the nfl while he was on his mission. (wont let me quote his post for some reason)

No. I have better stuff to do than argue with some dude who thinks Idaho St. is better than Oklahoma St. because their record may be better.

Don't wanna browse any of last year's schedules either. Looking at BYU's schedule there are three, possibly four teams in the Big12 that were better than anyone on their schedule. Wisconsin ended strong last year iirc, but were bad in the first half of the season. Ohio St. and Mich St. were superior anyway.

The best teams on BYU's schedule were solid, but ultimately, similar to middle of power conference teams. And those were the best ones.

If you can't see how this is easier than playing the likes of Ohio st. Mich st. Wisconsin Iowa Nebraska etc. or Oklahoma st. Oklahoma Baylor KState etc., then Idk what to say.

Then the question should be asked again
Why is wilson not talked about at all?

Simple. Big win early in the year when P5 teams are playing FCS teams.

P5 teams are playing FCS teams? Tell that to Michigan St. Michigan. Stanford. Oklahoma St. Just because utah hasn't played anybody, don't pretend that's how they all roll. Maybe the ****ty P5 schools like Wazzu, utah, colorado, purdue, etc., do that however.

Man, i didnt hear you discuss that ohio state schedule doe. interesting.

My point was never that byu has a great schedule or that p5 schools schedules are not good so you are argueing against yourself there holmes.

I simply said that power 5 conference does not equal super tough schedule like everyone seems to believe. (case in point, ohio states schedule)

Wilson played against Idaho state and Fresno state, which just happen to be two of the worst teams on the planet. Lets see if he can Taysom Michigan like Notre Dame can. At least Michigan has some talent on the field even if they suck atm.

By the way, Williams is a better runner than Booker because he has more HS touchdowns and big runs, so there... that's how I know he's a better runner today.

Simple question.(though i doubt you dare to answer it honestly)

Is ohio states schedule hard this year?

The BIG has some pretty garb schedules, I'll admit. Mostly because Ohio St. and Nebraska play **** non conference games and they can't play everyone in the conference each season.

First one I looked at tbh.. just picked an upper middle tier school in one of the conferences... I'm sure the one I looked at is the outlier compared to the zero you've looked at.

Yep. I'm hyping the power conferences and the Coug's aren't hyping their mid major schedule at all.

This year was not hyped at all, last year was mentioned was a good schedule. You call it mid major and yet it has a 2 Pac 12, 2 ACC, 1 Big 12 and Notre Dame so half of the games were from "power conferences" and some of the remainder were good teams from other conferences. Just a few pansies.

Why is it so hard to admit BYU's schedule last year was as good as many of the power conference schedules aside from the Pac 12 and SEC?

Why neg this as "horrible" green?

You are saying Wilson was better last year and even though he's played terrible teams this year he has a better rating so he's clearly better which is a very weak argument. You don't like my HS comparison to your argument? Do you give up and that's why you neg me, take your ball and leave?

Very solid schedule for a non power conference school. No doubt.

Still, every team in the Big12 had a tougher schedule last season (even w/ Baylor's weak non con scheduling) and most BIG teams did too. I don't know why that's so hard to admit. BYU's schedule looks like a par ACC schedule. A huge difference is the lack of really elite teams that schools have to face if they're in a power conference. Wisconsin is more often than not recently, but def weren't when BYU played them last year.
