Would anyone be into trying to get Isiah Thomas from the Suns?

I hate his height, but he can ball and is on a good contract. I have no idea what the Suns are trying to do with their lineup by having their 3 highest paid players all play the same position now that they signed Bledsoe to a large deal.

Can anyone think of a team in the West that would want Burke that we could work out a 3-way deal with?
 
Not to mention drafting Tyler Ennis. The Suns are perplexing me.

Why? I want Exum to be our future at pg. very fast and looks to be a great willing passer. Don't see Exum having any chance at reaching his potential playing sg.

Meh. Not a reason to find up an upgrade at PG right now. We need some scoring.

I agree that Exum is going to need the ball in his hands a lot, and it would be more ideal to have a larger PG who can stretch the floor, but those are hard to come by for a reasonable price. Thomas would give us a PG who can draw fouls, hit shots, and put pressure on the defense.
 
I love Thomas.. but he seems like a wish more than need with both Burke and Exum under favorable contracts already. So, sadly, nope.

Ideally we would trade Burke when we get Thomas, which would probably mean some kind of 3-way trade where we give Burke to a different team. Lakers could use a young PG with upside.

Other teams that need a PG:

Knicks
Kings
Mavs
Rockets
Bulls (Rose needs a better backup)
Detroit (Lol Jennings)
Pacers
Bucks
Heat
Hornets (if they don't go forward with Kemba)
T'Wolves (if they don't go forward with Rubio, which they shouldn't)

Seems like Phoenix wouldn't want to give him up, because his contract is great value, but how do you play him enough with Bledsoe/Dragic? Lineups would be way too small with Bledose/Thomas, and even Dragic/Thomas isn't a great fit. Plus they have Ennis, who figures to be an OK NBA backup.

Just completely retarded what Phoenix is doing IMO if they don't move someone.
 
Thomas' contract is not really as good as people think for someone who we are hoping to be our backup in a couple of years(7mil per year). For a market that needs to overpay its stars spending 7 mil a year on a back up seems like a waste of resources to me. And I don't see what we accomplish by signing him, I don't think he's massive improvement over Burke to be fair.
Playing for teams with similar level of talent, they have pretty similar numbers(PER36) in their rookie year:
16.3 vs 14.2 PTS
5.8 vs 6.3 AST
3.7 vs 3.3 RBS
2.3 vs 2.1 TO

Thomas was much more effective due to higher shooting %, but I believe Burke's % was unrealistically low and he will probably raise it to more respectable levels this year.

I like Thomas and his fearlessness on the floor, he can ball, but he has a lot of limitations that would never allow him to be a starter for a good team... just like Burke... only Burke comes at 3-4 million cheaper for the time being. What do we get by taking Thomas? Get 2-3 more wins? Go from 28 to 30 win team? Meh! Don't see the point really. Unless we have realistic chance of competing I think we should use all our chances to develop our current youngsters and in the process get into a good position to draft a potential star player(Towns? Okafor?). I know people would hate me for saying that, but I think this year would be quite similar to what happened last year(when it comes to results).
 
Also, I hope Bledsoe stays healthy, would hate to see another big contract player with past injury history disappoint because of injury problems.

Don't see why he has to be a future backup. Exum can be the main ball handler and still start alongside Thomas. Like I said, it isn't ideal defensively because of his height, but he goes to the line. If Burke can figure out how to get to the line, I will do a complete 180 on him, because I like him as a leader and clutch dude, but not getting to the line with that shooting % is inexcusable in this league, period.

Also, if we can't keep Burks due not being able to pay him, Thomas is another player whose game can be ideal for a 6th man role.

Hoping the market next year is too saturated (which it looks like it will be) and that drives down the price on Burks down.

If we get him and he's not a back up in 2 years, something would have gone really wrong. I mean... I expect us to be competitive in 2 years time. I expect us to be a playoff team in 2017! I just really don't see him starting in any capacity for a playoff team in the west - he just gets abused in defense by pretty much all PGs in the league, let alone by the PGs of the playoff teams in the west. That's my reasoning.

I would have to see some advanced number on Thomas's defense. He also played on the Kings, who as a defensive unit, where terrible. Would his size disadvantage be negated with the likes of Gobert and Favors locking down the paint?

Plus, I could see a player like Thomas, who is a very good player out of the PNR thriving in Quin's offense. If he just a backup to Exum in the future, he would make for a good change of pace player. Also a very trade-able contract in the future.
 
8 million a year for a good 3rd guard is a good price.

I'd rather have Alec for 10, but I can't even begin to guess what he might be able to command this off-season. It would be nice to have some insurance because if we lose Alec, we will lose our best 1-on-1 scorer.
