It doesn't help that the baseball equivalent of Tyrone Corbin is managing the Dodgers. Someone needs to save Mattingly from himself.

The Dodgers are paying close to $60M per year for Kershaw and Greinke so now is the time for them to earn that paycheck. It would also help if Dee Gordon and Yasiel Puig could make consistent contact.

Moral of this story?

Choose the opposite of what I choose in baseball.
Nobody can predict this insanity.

The worst part of your prediction, doe, is having the Pirates win the wildcard game, yet having the Nationals beat the Giants in the divisional series

Hahaha, I meant the Pirates but yeah I botched that.

Don't count out the Nats. I'm a HUGE Giants fan, but their starting pitching is very suspect. Gonzalez is certainly better than Vogelsong. And then the series is back to Peavy vs. Strasburg, IINM. Nationals have the pitching advantage in both games. Giants have already overachieved given the injuries to Pagan, Morse and their ace, Cain.

I'm just happy the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (yes, that's their official name) are eliminated and the Dodgers are on life support. Don't really like the Cardinals, but any WS without an LA team or Yankees is just fine by me.

Chances that the Nats and Dodgers storm back to win their series?

50-50. Both teams have the pitching to do it.

I'd say St. Louis and SF are both facing "must-wins" tonight. It will be tough for either to win a game #5 on the road.

Kershaw looked uncharacteristically suspect in the 5th on that short rest. I'm surprised Mattingly left him in, if I'm reading the box score correctly anyway (I had to turn it off after the 6th). Mattingly was obviously having him throw to first over and over for that last out to buy him some rest. Why did he leave him in??? Sticking with an ace or a closer is the biggest sin managers make in the playoffs IMO.

The dodgers lost

gah... i ****ing hate the two teams in the nlcs. hoping for an AL winner! BIG AL! @CAKAR SHOUTOUT! i guess if royals make it through, i want the cardinals to make it to the world series as well to keep the regional thing going. but i wouldn't mind the giants making to the world series (as long as they lose) so that i can milk the sweet tears from their fans

I think NL gonna win the series. Better be the Giants, otherwise I'll be depressed for months

He struck out the side in the 6th and looked good doing it. I don't blame Mattingly for the handling of Kershaw but I do blame him regarding taking Greinke and Ryu out an inning too soon. Greinke was killing it and Ryu was also cruising when he was pulled for a lefty out of the pen. The Ryu move really pissed me off. Mattingly appears to be the weak link for the Dodgers and I would be pretty surprised if he's still there when spring training opens.

A big part of watching MLB playoffs for me is the ambiance of it all. Certain stadiums have a great ambiance and sort of lend to an "epic" feel. The games feel more weighty and important. For me it's less about the history of the stadium than it is about the "feel" of the stadium. It's always a bummer for me when the World Series is played in a crappy stadium.

This year the 4 teams remaining all have good ambiance in their stadiums IMO!! (Angels, Tigers, and Nationals DO NOT, so I'm glad they are out)

Orioles Stadium has a sort of old timey feel to it, especially in right field.

Royals stadium doesnt have tradition on their side, but it is a cool stadium and the crowd is awesome.

Cardinals stadium SCREAMS October, and has one of the coolest views from home plate in all of baseball. (Seen it with my eyeballs tbh)

Giants have one of the best ballparks in MLB, right on the water in teh bay area.

ALCS and NLCS will both be rad, and the World Series gonna be off the hook bros.

Hoping for a Royals vs Cards Show Me State Showdown, but would be cool with the Giants advancing cuz I might be able to make it to a WS game (living 3 hours away from SF).

Don't mind Cy, guys. He is still young. Someday he will realize the beauty of baseball

I watch sports for beauty!

And sometimes it comes down to the little things: Giants with a couple of beautiful bunts, which is a lost art. And then Kung Fu Panda almost costs them dearly by popping up with bases loaded/1 out.

Amazing how a few great regular season pitchers have come up short in the playoffs and some lesser vets have risen to the occasion.

Milk away. We have 2 chips in the last 4 years. Win or lose this season, I'm more than happy as a Gigantes fan to have those sweet memories.
