I'd have to go back to be certain, but I think when Hood was getting worked by Redick, Quin brought Jones in and he did a good job at slowing JJ down. That's the value Jones brings, defensive consistency and toughness on the wing if a young player is struggling.

Agree.
And players get better by having vets teach them the little things. Jones might just be a shell of his former self, but the team might benefit more from his toughness and defensive skills (even if just in practice) than they would by having yet another youngster on the roster. I would not be surprised to see Jones make the roster over Motum or even Clark.
