How to get out of a ticket?

I'm hoping that some of the cops on here will give me some realistic answers. I've googled and read just about everything out there and there seems to be no real answer to getting out of a speeding ticket. Anyone have a good way? A loophole? Anything? (besides tears and/or BJ)

Don't know about the speeding ticket. As it has been documented here, I just don't pay the photo radar ones.

I once fought a ticket, and won. It wasn't for speeding. It was for some BS about entering the left turn lane more than 500 feet in advance of the intersection. I know for a fact that I was within 500 feet. I contested it in court, yes they made me appear in court for this lame ticket. The cop who wrote the ticket didn't show up to defend it, so I was able to have it dismissed. Maybe it can work the same way for a speeding ticket, but I wouldn't know for sure.

My experience a few times for two point tickets (1-15mph over speed limit out here) has been to show up at the court date set, speak with the guy beforehand (some guy, I don't know his title) and he asks you how you plead or what you want to do, and you can politely request to have it knocked down to a lesser offense so there are no points, and so that you'll only have to pay for the actual ticket and court fees. Or were you looking to get out of every single cost?

I'm looking for a real loophole, or something similar. I've read stuff about 'asking to see the radar gun', etc. but that all seems to be bull crap. I agree with fighting tickets though, I've had one dismissed because the cop didn't show up.

Did you expect that you would not have to show up in court for contesting a ticket?

In the past when I received a ticket, I didn't have to actually appear before a judge. I just had to talk to some city clerk. It seemed a little silly to go before a judge for such a minor non-issue, and like a waste of everyone's time.

If you are just paying a ticket then you would just have to speak with a court clerk. If you are contesting a ticket and the City Prosecutor is not willing to drop it then you would have to appear before a Judge any time you contest a ticket (In most cases).

Wait. What are we talking about here? What were you driving in what speed limit area?

This is how it breaks down. Unless you're doing ninety in a school crossing or DUI, the city managers have to work on volume, not quality. They set up "traffic schools" so the judges can more efficiently skim the big ticket losers and not waste their time on nickel and dime stuff. The clerks have been quietly instructed to just take your money if you offer any as well.

When you insist on going to the court at the appointed time, the cop never shows up. He's earning more money out on the street workin' the folks who will just pay without wasting their time. Unless you are obviously expecting to see the perp, the judge will just have you pay up anyway.

I really detest you.

When I went to court for a non turn signal ticket, I plead the charge down to a defective vehicle or some other lame charge. I still had to go in front of a judge (along with a group of 10 other people). It was odd, since every other time in every other county/city I've plea bargained a ticket I just signed a paper and paid the ticket.
