What's new

2014 College Football

In all seriousness, the damage that is being done right now for BYU could turn out to be devastating. Losing 4 in a row while Utah is beating USC and UCLA, if you don't think that resonates with recruits and fans not going to games, you're crazy.

The tide has been turning for the last 20 years and it's about to engulf BYU.

Remember 1984??

So, time to start talking ASU. What does everyone think about this game?

They have owned us since joining the Pac. Also, we have a tendency to have a letdown game after a highly emotional win. I think we should be the underdogs in this match... which will probably help.

I honestly do not know what will happen. I could see this game going many different directions.

If I were going off the committee's standards, of SOS and injuries right now, my top 4 looks like this:

#1 - FSU - 6 P5 teams, no losses, win over top 5 ND.
#2 - Oregon - 5 P5 teams, only loss was due to an injury, dominating wins.
#3 - Miss St - 4 P5 teams (SOS kills them here. Want to be higher? Quit scheduling weak *** OOC).
#4 - Notre Dame - 6 P5 games, only loss vs #1 FSU.

#5 - Alabama - 6 P5 games, but have played two G5 or lower games. That is what puts them lower than Notre Dame. Again, SEC, want in? Quit scheduling like a sissy. If you throw out the Florida Atl and play @ Indiana...then I'll put you up.

I hope the committee recognizes SEC's eight game conference schedule... I like these rankings, however, I'm pretty sure ESPN's heads would explode if the rankings came out like this.

Is that asu qb healthy? Kelly I think his name is?

I'm not sure. I think he got a concussion last game and might have to sit out, but it's to early in the week to tell. I heard the ASU backup is pretty good though.

I just hope that Utah can pressure whoever is behind center. USC's QB did an outstanding job of avoiding pressure.

The most impressive things about Utah this season:

-They picked themselves up after a crushing loss to Wazzu and won on the road at UCLA.

-They didn't have a let down after UCLA and went into Corvallis and won a hard fought game in OT.

-They didn't have a let down against USC after beating the Beavers and coming back home for a big game.

If ASU beats Utah, I don't think it will be because of any type of letdown.

I know it's been forever.. but what was the point of this?

I just wish the SEC and ACC would play nine conference games. Because the SEC normally schedules an FCS opponent instead of an additional conference game, their conference teams get an "artificial bump" in their win/loss ration. Whereas, the PAC12 and others suffer six conference losses during the same week.

I also would like all the conferences to have a championship game, but that's just me.

The rankings don't matter. The Utes have a chance to prove their worth on the field. This week's game has me more worried than the USC game did.

Before last night I felt this way big time but I think last night was a big learning experience for the Utes offense top to bottom. I think they learned what works and what doesn't and I think they built a lot of much need confidence. I think the Utes are going to have their best in conference offensive showing yet against AZ State.

AZ ST is a better team than USC but the Utes are a better team than they were headed into last nights game.

God I hate that loss to Wazzou so ****ing much. We would be #3 (#2? Our schedule would definitely be more impressive than FSU's), undefeated, P5 school with quality wins. Damn it hurts. Seems like the voters just can't get over that one, and I can't blame them for it. But it would be pretty fun to have everyone talking about us.

What do you think 'your' team's record would be if it played 8 SEC games vs 9 'other' conference. There is nothing artificial about the toughness of the SEC.

Lol. Alabama struggles every time they place a decent QB. Put them against Kessler, Mariota, Hundley, Mannion, Kelly, Solomon? They go 3-3 or 4-2 against those teams.

The SEC is tough because there is t a team with a decent QB. Why do you think two middle of the road Big 12 teams came in and started competing? Not because the SEC is so tough. Because there aren't any QB's in the SEC.

The SEC has their reputation because of 8 game conference schedules and 1 bowl game a year.

Kudos to them for that. They always win the one game that matters.
