Annoying Windows 7 "Feature"

So I just bought a new laptop, because my old one was starting to make worrying noises. In doing so, I went from Windows XP to Windows 7. There are a number of things that annoy me about Windows 7, but one thing in particular I found really irritating.

In all previous versions of Windows, you could manually re-arrange files within a folder. In Windows 7, this is no longer an option. There are still a bunch of choices for auto-arrange, such as by name, date modified, etc. But there is no way to manually sort the files without actually renaming them. The only place where things can still be moved around freely is the desktop.

I did eventually discover a work-around that allowed me to get around this, but you shouldn't have to hack the registry to enable such a basic feature. Why on earth would they disable it in the first place?

Stupid Microsoft.

Anyway, I'd be interested in hearing any other OS gripes and/or workarounds people have discovered.

In case anyone's interested, here are my new laptop's specs:

HP Pavilion dv8t Entertainment PC
• Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
• Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-720QM Quad Core processor (1.6GHz, 6MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 2.8 GHz
• 8GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
• 1TB 7200RPM SATA Dual Hard Drive (500GB x 2) with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
• 1GB Nvidia GeForce GT 230M
• 18.4" diagonal High Definition HP Ultra BrightView Infinity Display (1920x1080p)
• Lightscribe Blu-ray ROM with SuperMulti DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support
• Webcam + Fingerprint Reader with HP Imprint Finish (Espresso Black)
• Intel Wireless-N Card with Bluetooth

One odd thing I've noticed is that it seems to be generating a lot of heat through the center of the keyboard... I actually wonder if the fan is working correctly.

Yes i have ran into that snag too. Very dumb. Hopefully they put it in one of their service packs.

How much did that cost you?
