Can the Alec Burks experiment please end?

Obvious attempt to defer inevitable Hayward hate in other direction is obvious. A for effort, but if all he costs us is 4 mill per year(not happening)

That's about all that Nick Young gets. Their impact on the game is about as equal as it gets, with the exception that Nick can take over a game and Alec never will.

You think Burks played Harden even?

Stupidity like this can't be argued with. It's not even worth it.
Burks has more assists if his teammates hit some shots..... Also I think that harden gets the ball in his hands and is asked to create more than Burks.
That probably effects what you are able to do assist wise.

Right. Harden only gets better numbers because he's asked to do more. That's the only reason.

I like that step back chuck shot he had just inside the 3 point line. Solid decision, per par.
IIRC there were less than 5 seconds left on the shot clock. It was a good decision.

Re: Burks playing Harden to a draw: Nope. In the 4th quarter, Harden was bending the defense whenever he had the ball. As Cy has pointed out repeatedly, this led to assists on 10 3-point shots. It probably also led to some other easy shots (when the ball got swung) and shooting fouls. Now, the Jazz defense (and offense) got noticeably more undisciplined as the game wore on, but Burks simply doesn't have this ability. He's a poor passer off the bounce. If Burks can continue to play solid defense and hit open jumpers, he's a terrific player to have when the shot clock is running low or the defense relaxes. Harden is an offense; Burks is a safety valve.

And he still made it, plus wasn't that right as the shot clock was ending? Seems like the only thing he could do on that possession.

The challenge for Burks fanboys is to put together a video of Burks leveraging the defense to create good shots for his teammates. When Harden has the ball, all 5 defenders are focused on him, and he's still able to consistently create good shots for himself and his teammates. When Burks has the ball, defenders stay home, and he's still not as effective as Harden scoring the ball.

Well stated. The troglodyte Balloun can't see things for what they are.

Yeah, but maybe he should have retitled the thread "Can The Alex Burks Starting Experiment Please End". Think for sure he is a good 6th man, jury is out this season on his starting ability.

In Quin's offense everyone is asked to create, why do you think you hear the phrase "play with the pass" so often?

Did I say only reason?
Was my post unreasonable?

I simply said harden plays a different role than alec.
I'm sorry for saying that and hope you can forgive me

Alec is a better decision-maker/off-ball halfcourt player. Ty probably deserves some (or even a lot of) credit for this.

Oh so this thread was made because Alec Burks isn't better than James Harden? Well now it is just a much, much worse thread than before.

Yeah and Favors wasn't even as good as that Howard guy... we should release them both.

For real though, why do some Jazz "fans" only focus on the negative with some of our players. I don't understand the blind hate... Burks scored 18 within the offense and was decent on defense. He also looked like he was in control and he competed on defense.

Burks did his part... can't put this loss on him.

The only person who has hated Burks on this thread is Franklin, everyone else is just discussing the game. Pretty everyone else being slightly critical of Burks still likes Burks, we just know his flaws (not being able to create for teammates). Trey, Gordon, and Derrick all rely on the offense running to get baskets, Burks may actually score better without the offense.

While I agree this was Burks most "within the offense" game, which is encouraging, but this was also the game were our offense was not running smoothly at all, which may have been why Burks was able to look like our best player.
