Jazz Just Signed Trevor Booker According To Woj

Not sure if this was posted, I couldnt find it.

Makes this signing much better.
Yes it does. Makes it easy to trade him too. A team could take him on with the option to keep him or save the cap space. I feel much better about this move now that the details are out. Also don't think it keeps them from trying to buy out or sign Tomic this year or next if they decide to pursue that route.

Complete faith has been restored in DL. This contract is a great asset in the offseason now. We can either use it in a trade to match salaries and the acquirer can waive him for space or we can get our flexibility back if needed by waiving him. If he plays out of his mind (not likely, but you never know) then we can hold on to him cheap.

I'm starting a slow clap for DL... join me if you'd like.

Good deal for us, but good for Booker too. 5 Mil is nothing to sneeze at and if he plays well he can parlay that into another similar contract.

Re-reading this thread and lol'ing at the doubters. Best part is when cowhide calls Booker a scrub.

lol
Good signing, maybe overpaid, but whatever. We needed another big body who could bang and rebound.

Had him on my fantasy team last year, followed him/watched the games he started.

Decent defensively, quite a good rebounder, knows his role offensively and has a fairly simple energy-backup big game IMO. Quite a good backup, in my opinion. Capable of starting.

The sort of signing that you make when you want to make the playoffs. Goes against the stretch-4 trend, fills out our front court, and hell fit in well.

Curious to see if his play improves with Utah. He was in Gordon's and Derrick's draft class. 5millper is probably an overpaying simply cuz DL wants him on the Jazz and wanted to outbid other teams

He is the stretch 4 trend.

Another scrub no one else wanted. Seems DL still keeps at least one old Utah tradition going. Sometimes being a Jazz fan you just have to shake your head. I would have rather kept the #35 pick.

lol
I've loved Booker since watching him play in college. Undersized, but so tough and relentless. Make no mistakes, he's going to push Kanter, and if Kanter doesn't get his **** together, Booker will be starting.

Prophetic

Size/positional issues can be real overrated and I can be guilty of that. Booker is a bad man and I'm a big fan.

An interesting wrinkle is that both Kanter and Booker are playing for their big payday. Kanter had better learn to get his **** together.

Booker won me over with his play almost instantly. The intangibles he brings is exactly what this team needs. Him and Rudy both bring that fire but booker can channel his right now.

I really want booker to start and have kanter be the big off the bench.

I sure wish year two of his team wasn't a player option.

I don't think it is. Second year is unguaranteed, so the Jazz can keep him for $4.775mm next season if the want.

At this point he seems like a steal at 4.7m. Even if he's our bench energy big, it seems like a steal if he keeps producing like that. I'd probably be looking to extend him. I don't think something like 4 year 18-20 million would be unfair.

Booker doesn't have range and he's undersized, but he plays with amazing effort and a bad *** attitude. I don't think he's a starter on a contender, but I'd love to see him as one of Utah's subs. He's playing about 20 mins/per, which I think is perfect given the energy he expends.

He is the stretch 4 trend.

lol

Prophetic

Let's remember that Booker had drained one (ONE!!) three before he signed at Utah.

He's a stretch-4, but not a pick-and-pop kinda dude. He's better. Looks like my analysis was pretty spot on otherwise.
