Jazz Just Signed Trevor Booker According To Woj

Is Favors tough?

I don’t think I’d describe him like that. Rudy and Crodwer sure, even Ingles.
Yea, Id call Favors tough. He really tried to fight through his knee problems last year.

Kawhi is having similar issues this year (not the same injury, but similar) and he is being a big weeny about it.

Love Book but we don't have any room for him right now. Maybe this off season we can look at adding him as a backup if Favors goes or some roster changes are made.

I doubt Philly will buy him out - but it's a possiblity now they have to clear a spot. Maybe they will waive TLC or Bayless.

Why do they have to clear a spot?

So on a team that desperately needs shooters, some propose bringing in a player who shoots 26% on 3's?
Booker is a tough guy. I love him as a person. Love the quote he made about Kanter and his volleyball shot. But Derrick Favors has a better 3PT shot than Trevor.

I'd rather give 10 mins/per to a player with upside; one who can develop a 3PT shot. Trevor can't even hit FT's (63%). Who is the Jazz' 14th player (or rather, last PF). Whether that's Crowder or Jerebko, give them the minutes.

Besides, keeping a roster spot open allows Utah to bring in players at positions of need as injuries arise. That's been PG with Rubio hobbled and Neto out.

Favors is tougher than most fake tough guys out there people would consider tough. Favors sacrificed his body and future paycheck and played injured all year last year because we needed to win to keep Haywood. Unlike some other money hungry PG who decided to sit out playoff games cuz his toe hurt.

Whatever happens with Favors in the summer and whatever path he chooses for himself, he's won full respect from me. He will always be one of my favorite Jazz players.

For the 15th roster spot in march???

Nazzylongballs hasn't played more than 10 minutes. Booker would avg 10/game.
So tired of everyone being so sentimental. I'm about signing guys who could be the next Royce or Matthews. Signing Booker, who by the way would command more money then the Royce's of the world, but signing Booker restricts your ability to find another Royce. All for sentiment.

Well put. Being a tough guy has nothing to do with how loud u are or how much trash u talk. Favors is reserved, laid back, and doesn't talk trash, so that makes him less of a tough guy?

It always bugged me that Hayward got criticized for not retaliating the wet willie causing a trouble tech. The tough guy keeps his cool and shoots a ft to help his team

Necromancer poster needs to be negged. I was happy, than I was a little less so this morning. . .

That **** was so amazing. Never seen anything like it before.

Notice quin subs booker in for Rudy right then. Was quin planning for booker to take that particular shot? Was that the play called? Had they been practicing that in practices for a scenario like that?
I'm pretty sure the answer is yes. Unless I had a very vivid dream, Booker talked about this.

Is there any evidence his a great locker-room guy when he isnt playing (and I mean at all because I dont think there any minutes on this team for him)? I dont think Booker is at the point in his career when he wants to settle for being the glorified player/coach who doesnt play.

That isnt meant to be a knock on him. I'd just think he'd want to be on a team where he would play more, like New Orleans or something.

All fair points. I wouldn’t have many concerns though because if he ends up bought out and if he were to sign with Utah, I think that would be a pretty strong indication that he knows what kind of role he’s stepping into and he’s ok with it.

I’m the biggest Booker homer in the world but in the end, I’m sure his return is just a pipe dream at best. There’s certainly situations out there where he’d see more playing time, and he obviously doesn’t add any outside shooting to Utah should he return. He still makes me tingle though.
