Lottery Rookies PER stats

It's funny to see Stauskas in the red.

Im pretty sure the Kings used a bunch of advanced metrics to find the most efficient player for their team, and came up with Stauskas. They were trying to solicit formulas from the public IIRC.

Lol, have you seen their war room video? It was Vivek pretty much pushing Stauskas down everybody's throat at that meeting and nobody willing to voice any other opinion. To me it looks like owner's choice rather than anything to do with advanced metrics or scouting. "Stauskas? yah? You want Stauskas, right? Stauskas? How about you? Stauskas? Woohoo, Stauskas?"

As far as I know Smart and Exum were at the top of analytics projections.

I really enjoyed that, thank you. I need to spread rep around apparently before giving it to you again.

Vivek looks like a child who just got the toy he wanted all year.

So Stauskas is a bust now?

I'm gonna say no.

I don't think he's a bust. For all we know he might be one of the best players in this class. I just think it was ridiculous the way this war room situation unfolded. Analytics people were saying to their scouting team that Payton will be better fit and better defensively... until Vivek got in the room and started proclaiming how he wants Stauskas and started pushing him on them.

Pretty sure that their GM said "why do you guys have Payton over Stauskas?" before vivek said anything(I'm not even sure that Vivek was in the room at that point) Mitch Richmond and D'Alesandro look like their drooling whilst the analytically guys talk about Stauskas's potential fit with them. Later during the draft D'alesandro gets all worried that Boston might take Stauskas. When it is their turn to pick Vivek turns to D'Alesandro and says "Stauskas or Payton?" D'alesandro responds "Payton" at which point Vivek backs his GM and is super positive. It probably helped Stauskas that one of the all time great 3 point shooters(Chris Mullin) was sitting in the room but it looked to me that it was firmly the GMs decision and that unless they could move up and get Embiid he wanted Stauskas from the beginning.

Wasn't it them that allowed a few of their fans to come in and give their advise on who to draft as well? And I'm pretty sure they were high on stauskas as well.

I think Stauskas was a good pick though, he's off to a slow start but he was one of the players i thought was close to a sure thing.

I totally agree with you. I think they really only had a choice between Mcbuckets, Payton, and Stauskas. I can see why they wouldn't want Mcbuckets because he may turn out to be quite the defensive liability. Either Stauskas or Payton would have been a good pick imo. I thought they would take Stauskas over Payton because they already had Thomas. I'm still scratching my head to understand why they would both pass on Payton and let Thomas go, doe.

Or Anjali walked in.

I don't think Vivek was there at the meeting with the analytics people. But you are right that Richmond and D'Alesandro were happy with the way the analytics guys were talking about Stauskas.
At 4:25 we see Vivek for the first time and he says "On our team we like shooting... I think Stauskas... I think he claims that he hit 91 of a 100 3p shots" This is the first time you really see who they are leaning towards. BTW it's worth pointing out that their analytics people had Vonleh at 3 and he was still available for Sacramento at 8. Then we get to the war room:
At 6:10: Vivek is like "I am worried that it is Stauskas"(for Boston at 6)

This one is better and less edited for the moment I was referring to:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0mQwnlkVMU

at 0:11 Vivek is like "So what do we do guys? Go down the room, what do you want? Stauskas or Payton?" and here he doesn't wait for the other people to have their say he's straight to the point "For me it's Stauskas, STAUSKAS OR PAYTON?[towards the GM]" Maybe I am reading too much into it but their GM didn't seem happy but agreed "I say Stauskas". Then somebody asks another person "Stauskas or Payton?" and it seem like Vivek responds for him "Stauskas", then repeats again "Stauskas"... It's kind of hilarious really. This is really bad way to take such decisions - it is a bad idea for the people highest on the ladder to give their opinions first in such situation. In general it was - Vivek first, GM second, everybody else after? Who would say Payton after your Owner has thrown in the Stauskas name first... and then the second on the ladder - the GM has confirmed? What's the point? If they are going to be making the decision like this at all(by asking everybody in the room about their opinion), I think they should be starting from the lowest ranking member of the team first, so they won't be intimidated to contradict the people above them.

Really, how many games have these rookies played yet? I think it's just way too early to think anything.

Dante's numbers compare pretty well to kobes stats in his first three games. Australia kobe confirmed.

LOL .. have you guys seen the Kings play? Even in the win over the Clippers, Stauskus hardly got to touch the ball even in the 2nd unit.
