Man, I LOVE it when Thriller and Duck go off the rails. It's almost that they're offended that Ute fans don't have the same "sky is falling" mentality their Zoob fan base has after a couple of losses.

When they accuse Utah of "hiding" from BYU, I wonder if they consider a few very simple facts:

-It's almost impossible to "hide" from a team that you've beaten 4 consecutive times, 7 of the last 10, and 14 of the last 20. When a 20 year old man refuses to beat up a 10 year old, is he "hiding" from him, or simply doing the decent thing?


-There's literally no skin in the game for Utah in regards to a yearly matchup. Any school that is in a P5 and plays a 1 for 1 with an instate rival, usually has that instate rival also residing in a P5 conference. Clemson/So Carolina, Florida/FSU, Georgia/Georgia Tech are obviously just a few examples. The biggest example I can think of to the contrary is Colorado/Colorado State but those schools are able to use Invesco Stadium as a neutral site which probably makes the scheduling more appealing for Colorado. Bottom line: P5 schools usually don't bend over backwards for nonP5 rivals in regards to 1 for 1 scheduling. BYU feels they're above that, Utah doesn't. It's just reason #867 that until BYU finds themselves at the p5 table, they get further in the rearview mirror.

And lastly...

-Utah doesn't need the game for recruiting. When it comes to in state recruits, Utah has a very dominant recent history in the series. When it comes to the LDS kids, there will always be some who's faith guide them to BYU no matter what. That doesn't change regardless of the two teams playing. For the recruits that Utah chases from Cali, Texas, and Florida, do you honestly think a Utah-BYU matchup moves the needle with them? Even when Michigan is a .500 team, they're still one of the biggest brands in college football. IMO, Utah would be better off never resuming the series with BYU until there's a big, fat, BIG12 logo next to their name. Otherwise, what's the point?

And for my fellow Ute fans, I'm still very excited about the remaining schedule. Stanford's had an average year but I think they'll still be a handful especially considering they'll be coming off a bye and have a loss to Utah that is lingering.

If Utah can steal that game, I love our chances against Zona in SLC and in Boulder against the Buffs. If this team finishes with 8 or 9 regular season wins, hopefully they find themselves with a pretty decent bowl opponent and enough returning starters next year to have some pretty positive momentum going forward.

Still a lot of exciting football left in what has already been a fun season.

How about you quote the post where I said Utah's defense, ranked in the 20's at the time, would fall into the 60's? How about you bump the Utah to the Pac 12 topics from years ago where I said Utah would be a bottom feeder and everybody tried to play it off as me being jealous.

Probably, but A&M is much more dangerous team offensively. They can put up points with anyone when they are on their game.

Utah's coaching reminds me of MSU's when we were just OK. Real conservative play calling that is going to guarantee you play a bowl game.

Nice of you to show up. Since you brought it up, it's nice to know that you are dead quiet for a few days whenever your team sucks balls, are offered a wager against your completely garbage predictions, or when any subject that requires the use of more than two brain cells comes up on the boards. The "LOL" comments that finally break the silence never disappoint.
 
Gotta admit, I kinda feel sorry for Duck. No matter what team he chooses to be a fan of, they always get spanked by Utah. I think he could use a hug.

1 loss Oregon moves ahead of undefeated Florida State in the playoff rankings....

Does that mean Florida State could be left out of the top 4 without even losing? That would be crazy.....

And Baylor has already beaten TCU....but TCU could make it instead of them.

And UCLA jumps 7 spots for beating Washington?

I'll let things shake out, but at this point, I think the AP poll looks like a more accurate ranking to me.

Long expanded on the one-loss Oregon over unbeaten Florida State decision, saying, "We clearly looked at the win-loss record. It is important. But we also looked beyond the records at other factors that indicated overall strength. Based on the committee's view of Florida State's strength of schedule, and their body of work compared to Oregon's strength of schedule and body of work, the committee voted that Oregon was No. 2. It was a very close call, but the committee placed a significant value on Oregon's quality of wins over three top 25 teams, two of which were on the road."

Long said the committee considered Oregon's loss to Arizona, but noted the Wildcats are now ranked No. 14 and said the committee factored injuries into the consideration. He also noted that in last week's rankings, two-loss Ole Miss was ranked ahead of four one-loss teams.

"The same thinking applies here," Long said. "You will note that this week we have seven two-loss teams ahead of two one-loss teams. Our approach is consistent: strength of schedule and body of work are important."

Utes should really be 8-1 right now. They really whiffed on both of those games. Yikes. One good QB away from the playoffs. Honestly.
