What's new

GM #9: 11/12/2014 - Utah Jazz(3-5) @ Atlanta Hawks(3-3) [5.30 PM MDT, 7.30 PM ET and 1.30 AM CET]

An open 20-foot shot early in the shot clock is a green-light attempt for guys like Steph Curry, Dirk Nowitzki, Kyle Korver, LMA and maybe Klay Thompson, Damian Lillard and a handfull of other top-tier players who make 45% - 50% of those looks.

For most guys, it's not the look you want. It doesn't make the defense work either.
Again, I agree. It's a bad shot.
Yet all of guys seem to take that shot often.

So do you think snyder is ok with our guys taking that shot? If not then shouldn't we be taking less of them as the season goes on rather than more off them like tonight

That's because he is Kobe. Damn Fish, you are forcing me to praise Kobe.
Kobe wasn't kobe when he was a rookie though and he would take those shots.
Westbrook, curry, cp3, dirk, kobe, wade, durant, lillard.... it seems like most all good players take long twos. Probably cause they are open and easy to get.

Seems like to become a great player, you need to be able to make those shots. Maybe snyder is trying to turn some of our guys into great players.

We were all praising Hayward this year...... he was taking alot of long twos (and hitting them)...... If he had been missing them then we would have criticized him.

Seems to me that when you make long twos it's all good and when you miss them it's a bad shot.

Hopefully our guys start to make more midrange shots than they miss

I'll take 11 and 11 from a starting PG tbh. Rubio averages ****ty shooting percentages and he gets big bucks for basically averaging what Burke did tonight.
Rubio's having a great year defensively.

"The task of replacing Rubio is much more daunting than you may assume. The Wolves were only five games into the season, but in Rubio's 144 minutes on the floor so far, Minnesota is simply a different team than when the Spanish point guard is on the bench. The Wolves' defensive effort is spearheaded by Rubio's pestering defense at the top. His wingspan, quick feet, and quicker hands allow him to deflect and pressure the ball at all times. With Rubio not in the game, the Wolves' defensive rating drops from 98.7 points per 100 possessions to a sieve-like 105.9."

nope but let me know how Schroder does the next time he gets 15 FGA's.

I'd lay you 3:1 odds he draws at the very least 8ft's in that game.

right now his FT to FG rate is off the charts. hes shooting a FT every 4 minutes of Playing time, Alec Burks shoots one ever 8 minutes

Burkes defense vs the P'n'R was as bad as i expected, he looked helpless and a step slow when Teague was going ballistic early on... no? Dennis is playing very well, he looks quick and balanced IMO, many people around here thought due to his lack of weight that he'd need more than 1 year to transition into america, that was obviously overstated.

Its the beginning of the season, time will tell, Schroder is clearly trending upwards . That was one of the worst games you will EVER see Al Horford play, and they still got the W.

Yeah you're right Dennis looked like pure ****.

hayward missed some serious buckets in crunch time though.

He's the go to go and the money man. he has to produce down the stretch....He has been good but not today.

Snyder needs to stop pulling our guys with 2 fouls in the 2nd quarter.

Hayward never got a rhythm because of it.

Favors never got a rhythm in LA because of it.

Sucks that the game Hayward has his worst night we only lose by 3. He also decided to miss all 3 FT's today after only missing 1 all year. Sucks.

I thought Burks played really good in the 1st quarter, but then everything after that was just bad midrange pullups, he was hitting them doe.

Hayward attempted to many midrange pullups too. He wasn't getting calls going to the basket and got frustrated it seems.

Burke too many midrange pullups.

How does Favors miss that last pass so badly?!?!

we're just beating our selves... but we will improve. This is a good learning expirience...Only way is UP from that last season. If we pull off 30-35 wins i'd consider this a win season.

This... I thought Quinn would be smarter than this. You give the other team the full benefit of the player fouling out... Without the player fouling out. I love Quinn, but that is not the way to go.

I think all the players have slack to do what they want. I don't think he is going to mind if players shoot it every now and then, maybe to heat check or get themselves going, but if it becomes a habit he would probably get upset.

Good answer

Impressive that we still were in control of this game and should have win it.

Overall it was a fun game.

I have always thought this is dumb.... and most every coach does it (gets scared of a couple of fouls)

I don't think he pulled Hayward solely because of that. Have to watch minutes with Rodney out on this long trip. I'm totally fine with coach Snyder's rotations.

Positive note though, I thought our team played well without Hayward for the 1st time.

Even when he isn't hitting shots Gordon is too important for our game. When he was on the court we had a 15.7 NetRtg when he was off we had a -39.4 NetRtg. YIKES. That is a 55.1 swing.

I don't think pulling your best player for the final 6 minutes of the 2nd half is doing that.

He was either saving Hayward from foul trouble, or was upset at Hayward for something. I don't think it has to do with saving his legs.
