Following potential 2015 draftees

I think that's a solid guess. I will actually be mildly surprised if UK wins by less than double digits.

VERY close at halftime and we pull away at about the 8:00 mark in the 2nd half and win by 12 - 15.

It was tied at half and we won by 12.

Jury's still out on him IMO.

Jury is very close to a decision on that one IMO...

Honest questions...
First, I'll admit I don't follow college basketball that much. I'll occasionally tune in to a game featuring top teams, or watch late in the season once a few names start getting tossed around as possible Jazz picks.

Anyway, just from my limited knowledge, it seems like this draft is similar to last year. There are three names widely regarded as the top-3 (Okafor, Towns and Mudiay) just like Parker, Wiggins and Embiid last year. And then the next handful of picks seem to be solid prospects.

What are the opinions of the "experts" we have in this thread. If the Jazz were to draft in the 4-8 range, do you think the talent could be on par with what we saw last year. Do players like Johnson, Turner, Harrell, etc. compare favorably to players like Smart, Randle, Stauskas. And if the Jazz were to improve and fall into the next tier (9-12) are there players like Payton and LaVine who could be solid rotation guys for Utah?

I know it's early, but I'd love to see what some of your mock drafts are right now: maybe top-10 or top-15.

Oh, and my apologies for missing most of the previous 127 pages. Maybe I can go back if I have trouble falling asleep one or two or ten nights. ;)

Obligatory, "I hate comps."

I have been saying for 3 years that this draft will be pretty weak. Having said that, I think it will be similar to last year with regards to the tiering.

Also, add Porzingis to your 2nd tier of names.. as well as, perhaps, Winslow.

Leaving this specific discussion: Cauley-Stein was unstoppable against Texas.

21pts (on 11 attempts)
12rbs (fantastic considering the two biggest teams in the country were punishing each other)
5stls
3blks

Was everywhere and doing everything. He literally guarded ALL FIVE positions in just one game.. and did it really well. One of the fastest, laterally, 7 footers I have seen. He's like a less dumb McGee (hate comps).

I think Winslow and Hezonja definately belong in the conversation.

I've been pretty down on WCS offensively last season and was ready to write him off. I haven' really watched more than 10 min of live Kentucky basketball this year but his stats are impressive this year.

I think Noah is a better comp. Both a little undersized at center (in weight/wingspan) but can make up for it because they can switch on any position.
Obviously he's not the passer Noah is so that would be the gamble.

I guess so.. I might agree. Except the bolded. WCS measures precisely 7' and 250lbs. 7'2.5" wingspan.

The obligatory disclaimer "I haven't seen enough, but from what I've seen...":
Last year's draft had series of players even in the second round that one can conceivably see developing into solid NBA starters. I think the coming draft is a notch(or several) below last years, but it seems to have good quality in the top 10 at least and what's more important to us it has great prospects in areas where we desperately need upgrades - it seems to be full of bigs who could all go before any of the bigs from last year(minus Embiid) - Towns, Okafor, WCS, Turner(I am not super high on him)... I think all of those are better prospects than Nurkic or McGary(the second and third Cs from last year's draft). Also Porzingis is interesting if we give up on Kanter and look for a stretch 4.
It also has some great perimeter defenders at the SG/SF position in Winslow and Johnson, contrasted with great defenders at the PG spot last year(Smart, Payton, and potentially Exum). In general I like what we can get at pretty much any position in the top 8.

About the 9-12 positions... depends on who falls to those. We are bound to have some surprises both going down and skyrocketing in value by the draft... I haven't seen Hezonja play this year, but from what I've read scouts say, he's behind schedule and he's not gelling well in team concepts. I don't really like Cliff Alexander much(undersized, no jumpshot). If we fall out of reach of the desired bigs/stretch 4s and perimeter defenders, I'd probably take a shot at the potential of Kevon Looney or D'Angelo Russell.
