Shoud the Jazz Claim Josh Smith?

Off waivers. I know he is getting paid a boat load but this could potentially be another piece to heading back to respectability. He was definitely wanted in the off season and Utah isn't exactly attracting UFAs. What do you think and I really don't know enough about the CBA to figure if this would blow our cap.

No, I would rather develop the players that we have then bring him in. I do not want him taking any time from Hayward, Burks, Hood or even Ingles.

Oh god, he isn't anything close to being a SF. He can take Ingles minutes though.

Hell no. Let someone else take on his toxic attitude and horrible efficiency. The risk vs. reward is too high. Jazz already have limited flexibility with new contracts for Hayward, Favors and Burks. . . plus Kanter's RFA status to resolve.

I'd much rather see the Jazz continue to focus on developing their young players and add solid, team first vets to support them. Don't blow all the cap space on a selfish guy like Josh Smith.

Pretty alarming they couldn't find a team that wanted to trade for him. Detroit is going to use the stretch provision to amortize his contract. That hurts their ability to go after FA's for the next several years. Welcome to lottery hell, SVG!

Addition by subtraction. I think this move was made right now to allow Monroe and Drummond to play together without Smith's horrible efficiency issues and bad attitude dragging the team down as SVG tries to build around his twin towers. This move screams of tryin to extend Monroe next year. They've kept him, so they still have his Bird rights and can sign him for more than any other team. They just need to convince him to stay. Getting rid of Josh Smith was a step inthe right direction.

The dude may be a cancer, but this year if he were on the Jazz he would be fifth in scoring, second in rebounding, second in assists (More than Hayward) and 2nd in blocked shots. Would you rather have him or Ingles coming off the bench?

As of today give me Ingles 100 out of 100 times! If we were contenders with a group of players who are tough with personality you're right. Just not the time. So please let go.

Ingles for 500K or Josh Smith for 14 million for the next 3 years? Ingles and it's not even close especially having in mind that we are not contending right now.

Josh Smith probably thinks he's a starter especially on a team with 9 wins. I doubt this experiment would end well. To answer your question, I'd take a one armed Ingles.
