Following potential 2015 draftees

Kanter has improved... i just think we have better frontcourt options. I don't think we are the best fit for him. I'd trade him if we could get a mid-first round pick for him.

If we held on to him I'd also be okay... I just think it will be tougher and tougher to keep Gobert off the court. He has so much talent and desire.

We should trade Favors.

Favors is our best player, but we have Rudy who is worthy of more minutes now. Favors and Rudy can exist for stretches together, but their offensive games will never complete eachothers. By keeping Favors, we risk selling low and losing out on Rudy, or paying him to be an extremely expensive backup. This is year two, by the time his pay day rolls around, the whole league will want to max him. Trade Favors now and get a lot of return for it.

Kanter and Rudy have games that work together, and both are improving under Quin. So the wrinkles can get ironed out. They both have mean streaks and aren't shy about barking at eachother for mistakes, which is a good thing. For whatever reason, neither Rudy or Enes seem to have the same freedom to communicate with Derrick. You want to know something crazy? We are also better defensively when Kanter and Rudy are on the floor and Derrck is on the bench.

Trust me, Favors is a beast and helps our team a lot, but we aren't quite ready for what he brings, and Rudy is his clear replacement. It's time to cash in.

Favors is unreadable right now, unless he brings an All-Star back. And unless that All Star is LeBron, I probably still don't trade him.

If I'm Utah, I sign Kanter for a Favors deal, and get Wes Matthews at any cost.

Exum/Neto
Wes/Burks
Hayward/Hood
Favors/draft pick
Kanter/Gobert

You have your core to build around.

Everyone....great idea. Let's trade one of the better young bigs in the league who btw loves playing in slc.

To me, that mindset is a problem. Our organization is too caught up on who likes to play here, and a sense of owing them for it. Rudy and Enes like it too. As a kid, Enes used to wake up in the middle of the night to watch Jazz games so he could watch Memo. Rudy bought a place here his rookie season and spends the majority of his free time during the offseason with the team.

Does Favors really like it, or is it just a comfort thing? Being traded rocked his world... To me, his love for Utah is just a telling sign of his lingering fragility a ddislike of stepping outside his comfort zone. He has a good thing here and should like it. But the reasons why he likes it aren't purely altruistic. The NBA is a business. The Jazz have owed him... A paycheck and time on the floor to develop, both of which he got. GM's aren't father figures, and they shouldn't be. Their sole concern should be building a championship team, and that's done by buying low, selling high, envisioning fit, and avoiding redundancies. Favors and Gobert are a redundancy. The money needed to keep both of them long term would be better served at another position of need.

We could probably get Dragic, TH Warren, Green, and a draft pick fora package of Favors and Trey. Phoenix knows they need rim protection if they're ever going to crack the playoffs.

I don't agree with these posts often, but that team would be nice. We need more 3 and D guys.

Trading Favors would be beyond retarded. He has shown improvement every year and is on a great contract. Let's see how far his range and skill-set improves next year to say if he can or can not play with Rudy next year.

Sure that would be ideal, but I'm not sure Utah can clear enough cap space to offer Wes a contract. Utah will be at the cap after holds for the draft picks and Enes. Conceivably about $8M could be jettisoned by letting Booker go and finding a trade partner for Novak. But that won't be enough for Matthews. If the Jazz want to keep Kanter, I don't see how they can bring in other FA's for much more than the MLE.

Not only that, Favors has said he likes it here. The Jazz should keep reasonably priced, productive, improving and happy players. Trade the over priced, counterproductive, stagnated, and/or sulky ones.

Would be awesome, but it's not going to happen. Jazz aren't going to get a top 5, much less top 2 pick this year. If they do, they're set up nicely for the future.

You never know. I believe we're 6th in the lottery standing right now. And we've got the assets to make a trade.

The cost really isn't that prohibitive.

Don't we have to wait until next summer (to see what kanter gets offered by other suitors) before we know how prohibitive the cost will be?
