What's new

Following potential 2015 draftees

Johnson just blew the game for Arizona. Stole the ball losing by 1 with 40 to go and missed the easy layup in transition and then turned the ball over with 5 seconds to go, losing by 2.
Finished the game with 13pts(3/11 shooting, 6/11 FT), 13 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals, 7 TOs.

Again - played great defense and rebounded great, but made some key mistakes and was pretty mediocre offensively.

He is just a Freshman.

Does UNLV not suck now?

Ha! They will likely lose their next game just because that's what they do. But hoping they've turned the corner. Kinda hurts losing Vaughn now though right buddy? I mean so many isu guys stormed the rebel boards screaming how Vaughn sucks and you guys made out better by landing BDJ. I haven't seen those guys for a while :).

Well, people are stupid. I don't really care one way or the other. Also, not convinced Iowa State didn't turn out with the better player for this season. Still would have rather had Vaughn to try and get the ball rolling on some bigtime prospects, but it is what it is. Maybe Cheick Diallo will change things. I can understand wanting to be in Vegas over Iowa, but comparing the two coaches, each teams offensive output, their national rankings, and the level of competition within their conferences, it's kind of uneven. Hopefully, they can reel some big ones eventually.

Ya gotta remember, most Iowa State fans are tarded. Just like most fans.

I keep watching these Winslow highlights and thinking he could be like a young DWade. He's that kind of athlete.

DWade had a really good handle and mid-range shot. Not sure if Winslow will ever have that mid-range shot, or Wade's freakish ability to finish at the rim.

This Saturday at noon on ESPN2 - War!
#1 UK
@
#4 UL

Intense rivarly.. heated. Not friendly, at all.

The teams combine to have 6 players on the John Wooden NPOY watch list.
UL will slap, bump, and generally try to muddy up the game.

Keys to the game;
For UK it's keep the turnovers under 16. UL will full court press nearly the entire game.. trying to force turnovers and hurried shots.
For UL it's hit some 3's. They probably need at least 8 of them to be in the game at the end.

Prediction:
UK - 75
UL - 66

Draft relevant players in the game;
Harrell (UL)
Rozier (UL)
Towns, WCS, Harrisons, Lyles, Booker, Johnson (UK)

Here's some projections by a model developed by @VJL_bball:

https://laynevashro.shinyapps.io/preds/

Myles Turner projects to be a monster(18.5). Other players projecting to be stars in the league are - Stanley Johnson(10.3), Tyus Jones and Jahlil Okafor(11.0), D'Angelo Russell(11.4) and Karl Towns(11.8). From the European players Hezonja and Porzingis project best...

The regular disclaimer for small sample sizes apply...

What's EWP?
Expected Wins Peak

"Expected Wins Peak" is a quasipoisson regression model used to project how well a player will perform at the peak of his NBA career. NCAA and international prospects are projected using two similar but distinct models. The NCAA model uses age, experience, MPG, SOS, Height, Weight, and basic per-possession box-score statistics fit from all players to play in both the NCAA and NBA since 1990.

I'm curious of PKM's opinion of having Turner statted this high.

Made that word up. Statted.

His stats are good for the number of minutes he's playing and he's shooting well, but I was really disappointed when I watched him against Kentucky. He was completely over-matched in every facet of the game. I think the small sample size might be to blame for this anomaly with this particular projection.
