What's new

Game Thread - 1/2/15 Atlanta at Utah - 7 pm local

Can't sign a player you trade within one year.

Thanks. Couldn't remember how long the team has to stay away. Really, really wishing they'd just brought Neto over this past summer. As much as I'd like to continue to support Trey, something has to be done. There HAS to be some accountability.

Keith McLeod came with Coach though…who was entertaining for a while. Actually, I'd enjoy Coach to come back, just to see him argue again. Those were good times.

Going to watch the eplay but looking at the box I can't help but wonder how trey was allowed to even shoot 19 times??? This POS has one good game and he got all up on himself.

He jacked about 3 with a foot on the 3p line, he drove for about 3-4 more and was smothered by the defense, the rest were good open shots for the most part. That's the thing with him, even if you disregard the ill-advised shots, he doesn't seem able to hit even the open ones with any consistency.

why everyone is mad at trey? he is who he is

it's all about the the gm that couldn't see his ceiling

and the coach that gives him 33mpg and green light to shoot like an allstar

If the Jazz had won this game, they would be in serious danger of drafting after the Denver Nuggets. Can't have that.

Was favors getting over the flu or something, he seemed disengaged most of the game?

Christopher looked really bad in the 5 minutes he did play. Sorry to see him get hurt but Clark can match his production.

Fervently wish Burke would have been the one to go down with injury. Horrible game. There comes a point where you have to take your losses, Jazz are at that point with Burke. Ship him for anything for the good of the team.

Even though Exum isn't an offensive savant, the team plays more cohesive with better defense when he's on the court. Why can't Exum get a start? Would love to see him push 30 minutes a game.

I am quite certain that DL and QS are not oblivious to this. I DO wonder what they are thinking about Brick. I have not heard his issues discussed by either of them. Caught a fair bit of the weekly discussion with DL on the radio and do not remember trey coming up in conversation, while Kanter and his D was. And can you imagine what it would do for Favors, Hay, Enes et al to have someone like Teague handling the ball?

That's just him. Some games he's into it, many he isn't. We need to accept that if we are to move forward with him as an anchor.

Perhaps getting 7 shot attempts had a bit to do with it. Hard for a big man to have an impact on O when the PG is too busy throwing bricks. Fav still had 11 rb and 2 blocks.

absolutely. Favors is talented, no doubt. That said, a dominant, aggressive big man would have called for the ball, created opportunities for himself to get the ball, etc. and if he didn't get it, he would've put trey in his place in when the time came. Favors does not have that in him, and never will, and I've come to grips with that. Favor's career will no doubt be filled with glimpses of dominance, but without the fervor that greatness requires, he will not be anything above inconsistent.

My point is that he shouldn't rely on the flow of the offense to get himself involved. Either he'll come forward and write his own destiny, or he'll defer to Trey, and take 7 shots. I've come to terms with the latter.

I wonder what it would take to get Shröder from ATL. I wonder if Trey and the next GSW pick would do it? That might seem like a lot, but I think we might come out better in the long run. We'll never get Teague... but his understudy (and a former Quin project) might be a good get.

I'm sure ATL is super excite to get Burke after last night. Probably ringing the Jazz up right now.

You've been up to your annoying old habits lately. Listen for a change. I've been paying really close attention to the Hawks the past couple of years.

They are playing above internal expectations right now. They are in mid-rebuild, and fully aware they don't have the talent to make a serious push for a championship. The whole project could come off the rails after this season if they can't retain Carroll and Millsap, plus add a serious piece. If they can trade their BACKUP guard and get a first-round pick, then I guarantee they aren't hanging up the phone. We might have to add something else, but the conversation is definitely going to happen.

Probably a lottery pick. #9 in the 2013 draft ought to do it.
