Absolutely HILARIOUS!

Growing up I was a huge Shawn Kemp fan. I thought that boy would be awesome some day. I was crushed when he lost the slam dunk contest to freaking Dee Brown (with the pump up Reeboks). Anyway, who knew then that the only record Kemp would hold would be the number of children around the country. All that said, I think desire and work ethic are huge. If Griffin works his butt off I don't see any reason why he couldn't be like Malone.

20k boards? Last time I checked, Malone was a few shy of 15k rebounds.

Yep. 14968 rebounds, 36928 points. And Malone was a serious rebounder. He averaged 10.1 per game for his career, over 19 seasons, the model of consistency. Means that for Griffin to catch Malones career total of rebounds in a "normal" to longer length career....say 14 years...he will have to average 13 boards per game. If he were to play 12 years it would have to be 15 rpg. Either way that would be some pretty elite company there.

...I was shooting from the hip on those stats.....but all I know is Griffin has ZERO, 0, nata, none, chance of topping ANY of Malone's NBA career total records! He would have to team up with a point guard similiar to Stockton and then play 20 years of injury free basketball....neither of which is going to happen! And besides all that, he'd have to develop Malone's basketball IQ.....which he is less likely to acquire than the John Stockton type point guard!

Someone asked Sloan about this Blake vs Malone thing and whether Blake reminds him of Malone . Sloan's reponse: "Well, he has already missed more games than Malone did in 18 years".

Ouch.

Good point. He's already broken one of Malone's records, and he did it in less than 1/36th of the time. The kid is amazing!
