What's new

With Dallas's loss at Memphis...

Upon reflection, 6th seeds do get a significant number of upsets.
I'd adjust the odds as follows:
98
90
70
60

40
30
10
2

Ya know, you could always use google to get historically accurate percentages of all the seeds, one through eight. Unless you like pulling numbers out of your...

historical averages will vary for different time periods.

So what?

Dirk isn't going to stay injured forever and the season isn't even halfway over and we've been playing a bunch of bums lately. A lot can happen between now and the end of the season. However, I think one thing that's apparent is that we need to add another shooter to this team. A perimeter player that can score consistently score from the outside will keep defenses from the Spurs, Lakers, Heat, Mavs, and Celtics honest.

If we really want to celebrate something lets celebrate a win against the Spurs, Lakers, or Heat right now. I think they're giving (fans) confidence that we'll do the exact same against good teams. Lets return to reality. Good teams will clog the lane and prevent Deron, Millsap, and Al from scoring. We've seen this from the good teams this year.

Who will step up? Raja? AK? CJ (he's been doing it as of late)?

Personally, I think we need to add one more piece to the puzzle.

I'm interested to see what Memo brings once he's back up to speed. He creates match up problems and is a solid shooter the team needs oh so badly. I think a healthy Memo could be that piece.

At this point, I would much rather have the 3rd seed and play the 6th seed than have the 4th seed and play the 5th, even if the Lakers are the 2nd-seed.

The dropoff between the #5 and #6 teamsin the West is substantial, and just because the Jazz can average 125 points against the Knicks and Cavs isn't enough for me to assume a first-round playoff win against the Thunder or Mavs is a lock.

We've had Memo the past 6 seasons. What makes you think an older version would be any better than the past versions?

We need another wing.

The Butler loss was huge for Dallas regardless of Dirk's recovery because he was able to counter Kidd's defensive lapses. Now they can only try to make up for it at the rim. I really don't expect them to be in the top of the West conversation by the end of the year.

Memo is a good player, and probably the best shooter on the team.

He was injured during our last two playoff runs, we haven't been at full strength since we actually competed with the Lakers. I think you're selling him short, big time.

This is a completely new team, and while I agree that a scoring wing would help, I think a healthy Memo could be equally as effective, if not more so.

By the end of this month, The Jazz should build a lead over both Dallas and OKC. Their schedules seem to be tougher. The Jazz will play @Boston, @Lakers and vs SA, with the later two being b2b. The Jazz should finish the rest of the month with at least 6-3 record.

I would rather be a 4th-5th seed, assuming the Lakers remain the 2nd seed then get the 3rd seed and have to play them in the second round

Lakers loss to the Clippers tonight. The Jazz swept the Clippers. Therefore, The Jazz will sweep the Lakers in the playoffs.

I'm verry happy that we've already played against them 3 times. Clipps are coming along. THey play really good team basketball and Lakers with a fake, schedule-favored 7-game W streak falled apart. Even Baron is trying to do play some basketball.

Did you know that 83.6% of statistics are made up on the spot?

That is true only 53% of the time.

Dallas is in trouble. Dirk will come back, but their other starter won't.

And with the Lakers losing again tonight at home (oops, I mean on the road) vs the clippers...the 2 seed is up for grabs

Exactly the logic the BCS is built on.

Yeah, just think. If the NFL used the BCS, we would have a Super Bowl with Atlanta vs New England and we would have just not had any of these silly playoff games, just a month long wait til the big game.

The great thing about the NFL playoffs, is that you never know who is going to win. If a team like the Jets put together a great game, then they win.
Unlike the NBA where you know who is going to win, and if there is any doubt, it's Dick Bavetta to the rescue!
