Here's what you need to do

You are invited to join my private poker club for Home Games online.

- If you don't already have it, download the free PokerStars software from www.pokerstars.com
- Open the main poker lobby, then click on the Home Games tab
- Click the 'Join a Poker Club' button
- Enter my Club ID number: 84169
- Enter my Invitation Code: PM gameface for the code

That's it! Once I've approved your membership request, we'll be ready to start playing Home Games online together.

If you want to find out more, visit www.pokerstars.com/homegames

Feel free to suggest times and stakes below.

I'm going to join in a few minutes. I recommend one table turbo sit n gos at $5 per game and payouts for 1st and 2nd. 3rd too if we fill a table maybe. I'd also consider higher stakes in the $10-20 per range.

I would if I wasn't dirt poor. If there is a free version, I'd love to take your V-Chips.

(see what I did there?)

I do believe these games can be played for V-chips. Signing up and joining the group doesn't mean you have to spend any money. Plus, if there is a money game at some point you can probably only spectate and chat if you're in the group.

Sounds like a pretty good format to me. $5 is good with me, too.

I also want to offer an alternative to depositing money on pokerstars. Not that I feel there is any concern, I've had a real money account there for I think about 10 years (thinking a little harder, it's more like 7 years). I've made deposits and withdrawls several times with no issues whatsoever. That said, if your only interest in that site is to play in the Jazzfanz homegame I would be willing to transfer funds from my pokerstars account into your pokerstars account after you've gotten the funds to me one way or another. I think the minimum transfer (as well as deposit) is $10. I'm only willing to do this on a limited basis and for small amounts in order to facilitate more people being able to play. If you've only joined Jazzfanz today I'm sorry, but the offer is not open to you. I will only do this for a few people who I know from this site well.

I do think for the first game we should play for "playmoney" just to figure out how it works and decide how we want to set it up in the future. If the only interest we get is for "playmoney" games then I'm cool with that. This is not part of my master plan to get rich off my fellow Jazzfanz posters.

Has anyone other than me said they'd interested?

I'm interested.

I'd rather do something a little slower and more deliberate. I think the turbo structure would diminish the whole point of "hanging out" with fellow Jazzfanz. I can play a turbo anywhere, and would be interested in a Pokerstars homegame for more than just the poker. On the flip side, the problem with a slower table is it can take forever. I've played too many low stakes games that go longer than what the purse is worth. I'd look for something in between.

I'd throw five bucks in for you Trout. We all know it isn't about the money, so would this still violate The Code and get you in trouble with your wife?

I hear ya. I guess, I just thought that for those knocked in 9th, 8th, 7th, etcetera, they'd be waiting a decent hour or so just to play the next game. Turbo eliminates that issue. But like you said, we want it to be a cool experience, hanging out and all. Okay, I'm joining the site now on Poker Stars. You and Bronco should do the same. Once we get it to about eight people, we can start to discuss the specifics I guess.

Agreed. Turbo may be the best way to go. If there is an ante option then that would go a long way to cure the main problem with sit and go's, which is players holding out and hoping the rest of the low stacks get blinded off. You only have to pick up a hand every 2 cycles to keep up with the blinds.

We could also do a low stakes cash game of .02/.05 or something with a pot cap instead of limit. I think bragging rights would be enough to offset the low stakes tendency to ruin competition and encourage excessive gambling.

Let me just share the home game options, they aren't exactly wide open.

Game: Pretty good selection (I don't want to list them all), I guess I assumed we were talking about No Limit Hold'em. I'm open to other ideas but this is going to need a little "mass appeal" to work, so I'm guessing it's going to have to be Hold'em.

Format: Regular, rebuy, shootout, knockout

Breaks: Yes, no

Payout: top 10%, top 15%, top 20%, winner take all

Blind interval: 3, 5, 10, 15, 20min

Starting chips: 1000, 1500, 2000, 3000, 5000

and that's it

Cash games are always a good idea, I have just found a lot of people to be scared off by them. The ability to come and go and the open-ended nature of cash games is a great plus though. Let me check the cash game options.

OK, cash game options.

same selection of game variations.

They offer No Limit, Pot Limit or fixed

From $.01-.02 blinds to $.25-.50 with buy-in caps from 20BB to 250BB, option for ante on .05-.10 (.02), .10-25 (.05) and .25-.50 (.10)

some games are labeled "fast" and others "normal" but I don't know what the difference is as the blinds and buy-in limits are the same.

So I just joined and am curious if there's a way to see who else has joined thus far?

Right now Gameface and myself are definitely in the group, and Bronco and Franklin said they'll join too so that's four. Have they joined yet GF? Has anyone else mentioned interest? Who said something in that other thread that prompted you to start this?

As far as games go, I'd prefer $2-5 sit n gos (like I said, I'd do more too) to NL cash games of .01/.02 like Franklin mentioned. That's just my own (strong) preference but I'm up for whatever the masses want. Perhaps we don't have to do turbo but we could have blind increments go up every 3 or 5 minutes to speed things up. I say we start with 1,500 in chips since that's what you typically start with online.

So far you and I are the only two in the group, although it seems we now have 5 people interested, 6 if troutbum comes around.

Another thing, the group tracks stats. Games can be included or excluded from tracking. I've had a lot of fun in poker leagues.
