What's new

GAMETHREAD: Jazz hosting Warriors - 1/13 7pm (mst) ROOT

Maybe Kanter will go off tonight and help increase his value, so we can trade his *** for something of value to us.

Interesting. It will be good for the Jazz if he's not able to play.

Honestly I want him to play. I want all the teams the Jazz are facing to be at full strength and healthy. At this stage the Jazz need all the experience and development they can get. Playing against good and great players helps that. When the Jazz are contenders and looking for an edge against other contenders then I will be happy if someone is out.

But for now? I hope they bring their best.

The Jazz just refuse to give up on Kanter. They must go home and replay the Nike Hoop Summit game to get their hopes renewed.

I think QS has enough justification to say that Kanter didn't lose his job because of injury... he lost it because Gobert has been more effective. I just don't like the message it sends to Gobert... thing is I'm sure it will piss him off and he'll take it out on the opponent, so no matter what we (the fans) win.

We will lose this game by 20 though.

Yea, Quin is right, no player should lose his job to injury.

Signed, Wally Pipp (in case you idiots didn't know who he was, he got injured and Lou Gehrig took his place) (Much funnier if you know who he is)

I think moving Kanter back to starter role is the right thing to do. If everything goes the way it used to, Quin can take away his role with a lot more solid right then him getting injured and not being able to play. I bet he still sees limited minutes.

I have no problem with Quin's statement:
"If you’re hurt, you don’t lose your job," Snyder explained. "If you’re hurt, you don’t have a chance to compete."

I think his message is that a job has to be earned and retained through competition. Gobert has certainly thrown down the gauntlet. Enes was hurt, but will now have a chance to compete. I expect Gobert to eventually win the job. In any case, I think we know Rudy is going to see more playing time than he did prior to Enes' injury.

I see it differently... and I'm sure Quinn is right. I think Enes has had ample chance to compete and what we got was less than when Rudy got his chance to compete. Either way though... I won't be pissed about it unless Gobert doesn't get around 25-30 minutes tonight.

I heard on the radio that booker is out with the flu

Wasn't it just 3 weeks ago, some on this board were screaming about how great the Jazz played when Gobert started with Kanter? At that time, it seemed the majority were kicking Favors out the door. Why isn't there room on this team for 3 bigs? We don't have a problem with 3 wings and 2 point guards, but for some reason we're not allowed to have 3 quality bigs.

Great outside shooting, which the W's have, negates the ability of Gobert to take over defensively. Rudy won't be a factor.

Actually, having Rudy under the basket allows our guards to get right up in their jerseys and dare them to put the ball on the floor. Perfect fit.

This... also allows guys to jump the passing lanes.

Having a constant paint presence like Rudy changes things for every player on the court defensively.

Enes earned starting by having 98 dedensive rating over his last few 8 games or so. I don't think it would send the right message to bench him while he was playing great right before the injury.
