What's new

Show your man love to Favors. It's overdue!!!

Favors has played great lately.

In January he is averaging 18.4 ppg, 10 rpg, 1 bpg, 1 spg, shooting 57% FG and shooting 72% from the FT line all in 31 mpg.

My biggest problem is that he is averaging less than 1 apg. But that is more than just Favors fault. Assits are down team wide.

Love his confidence right now, hes got some swagger and he comes out with the attitude he can beat the guy opposite him on both ends of the court. You can tell he thinks the other guy cannot guard him. They are either to small and he can over power them or to slow to stay in front of him, and now that his J is looking sweet you have to guard him outside the paint.

So his lack of assists is his teammates fault?

Favors has really improved at passing from the high pick and roll spot to the corner three if defense crashes but the Jazz dont hit that shot well. The Jazz SG spot is not really good shooter especially with burks out. Plus Jazz have been using Gobert in a passing role on offense more and Favors less, which is a good thing.

BTW Favors is #2 in PER this season behind the Brow. Technically number three but you can throw Brandan Wright out since he does not play enough minutes. I think he is now a top 10 or higher PF in the NBA. Favors power game and footwork combined with his shooting ability is really going to extend his career since he is not relying on his athletic ability as much. Hayward is a top 10 SF (#7 in per), Gobert is quickly becoming a top center (#7 PER now) and I think Exum will develop into an above average PG who is a good defender, good facilitator and hits his threes consistently.

We just need a solid SG/SF to start with this team next season. Next year playoffs, then a playoff run and then we got some chips to earn after that.

Favors seems to love playing alongside Gobert. He's been great this year and his jump shot has improved dramatically from previous years.

I wouldn't count out Alec. His 3Pt shooting was actually pretty good. Besides, Mehmet Gobert will be raining down three's by next season. Pick and pop is coming back! My biggest concern remains PG. We've seen nothing to indicate Exum will develop into an above average PG, other than the fact he was picked #5. Potential means NOTHING when he has the motor of a Yugo.
