Following potential 2015 draftees

I have never even seen a clip of D'Angelo Russell play. Nor have I looked at a single boxscore of his.

I like him tho. Purely because he has the best first name ever #BlackMessiah

Needs to tighten and lower his dribble. Needs to get down on defense. Needs to not ballhog.
The first two are easy corrections, the last is a huge maybe.

I'm concerned with how he would work in a system that uses a LOT of ball movement.

So what do we do if we land the top pick... just curious? Are Okafor or Towns going to be better than Favs or Gobert? Would you trade down and pick up other assets and take one of the SF/SG prospects?

I like the way this draft lines up with where we will likely fall in the draft order. I like Russell, Johnson, Winslow and Hezonja... I think they are all really good pieces that would fit well. If Exum doesn't end up working out having a guy like Russell would be great. I think Johnson will be a stud, but have read some stuff regarding work ethic/attitude that are a bit concerning...nothing too serious though.

Had a (wet) daydream a minute ago that we won the lottery and ended up drafting Okafor

PG - Exum
SG - Burks?
SF - Hayward
PF - Favors
C - Okafor

...with Gobert off the bench. Ho baby.

I've seen Mudiay play zero times, so in light of that Okafor is the no-brainer best player in this draft. But I'm with the majority - if we're in 5-8 range, I'm a big fan of anyone in the Russell/Johnson/Winslow trio (can't say I've seen Hezonja play either).

Still high on WCS as well, but I think we have more of a need on the perimeter, as well as a need for more pop offensively. As talented as he is, I don't see WCS ever averaging more than 9/10 ppg.

Okafor is not the no-brainer best player in this draft. He might be the best immediately but I wonder about others developing and will he ever be better than Kanter at defense?

Lol Russell isn't a ballhog. PKM just mad cuz local Kentucky kids hate UK.

Yeah He is averaging 5+ assists per game in his freshman year? Some of his assists were to me anyway, requires above average vision.

PKM, can you expound on your comment?

Isn't it crazy that ever year the player I choose to pimp in the draft gets a significant draft stock boost?

Otto Porter went from mid first to late lottery to the 3rd pick overall.

Aaron Gordon became the 4th overall pick when he was in the conversation of 6-10th last year.

Russell is now experiencing huge boost to his stock, being projected as the 4th pick by DX from not being expected to be good enough to enter the draft.

I think we are witnessing something called the "Cy Effect" and it;s pretty powerful.

And based off of NBA production I'd stay away from any player that is getting an artificial boost from the "Cy Effect".

You can be a ball dominant player and still get a lot of assists. There are plenty of types who would be ball stoppers, but get assists. Iverson, Franchise and Arenas being some of the more prolific types. Getting a lot of assists does not equal good PG.

I'm not saying Russel is like this. I haven't really even seen him play.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm not convinced that Mudiay is a sure-fire top-3 pick in this draft. I can see a DWill / J'rue Holliday potential in him for sure, but is he really on a higher tier than Porzingis, Hezonja and Russell (assuming Russell keeps improving)?

Would he really be tearing up the NCAAs? What if he never really learns to shoot or commit to defense?

As stacked as the PG position is right now in the league, is he a top-10 PG?

I take Okafor #1.. but Towns is a better pair with Gobert.

I don't EVER believe in trading down, but this may be one time I would consider it.. with a HIGH price tag.

Just meant he forces it too much.. but he is a freshman so it doesn't really concern me, tbh.
