Agreed. I'd also like to see them consider making a big move for an All-Star caliber player. If that takes the 2015 pick to pull off, then so be it (although I'd prefer to keep that top 10 pick to add depth to the bench and use future picks to pull off the aforementioned trade.)

Thanks. I actually rode in on a mediocre horse before swapping it out for a bitchin' tank with a vision for the future. This vision is difficult for the commoners to imagine, but once it all pays off, the villagers will be kissing our feet for the riches we shall all receive.

The pick is certainly on the table in a trade...but we'd naturally have to put top-3 protection on it. If we're in that 4-8 range, there are several players who could be starters at some point. And at a rookie salary: that's great value. Look at what we're paying Rudy: has to be top-5 in terms of value (production/salary) in the league right now and for 2 more seasons.
1. Tanking is impossible becasue we aren't that bad
2. This draft (IMO) is 10 deep (if everyone enters that is being projected too, which probably won't happen). I don't see us having a better record than that, so we are good. Also think there are some starting caliber players outside those 10 too (Booker, Dekker, LeVert, Kaminsky, Alexander).

That being said, who are the handful of players from the 6-12 pick the Jazz should be looking at so I know who to watch come Tourney time? On DraftXpress it seems like there's a glut of SFs who they have ranked in that range. Guess that couldn't hurt if Hayward slid over to the 2.

There is a glut of SFs, but none of them seems to have shown to have that star power yet. If we're looking for a home run type pick it's more likely we'll find it in the PFs (Towns, Pozingis) or PGs (Mudiay, Russell).

Jazz now tied in the 5-7 range with Orly and Boston.

Unfortunately, everyone is in free fall except for Detroit and Utah. And now Jennings is out. Jazz are about to pass up Sacramento and are only 2 games out from the #12 spot. On the bright side though, we've seen great signs from Dante and the continued strong play of Gobert. Even Burke is playing well as the leader of the 2nd unit. I'd much rather have the #12 pick than have the Jazz losing big and not seeing much progress from any of the youngsters.
The good news is we don't need an immediate contribution from our pick. Someone will drop. If the BPA is a player like Porzingis or Hezonja, he could even stay in Europe another season.
