Following potential 2015 draftees

Why you hating on triple k's suggestion that Hayward take exum under his wing and mentor him in the off-season?

Just curious

I figured this would be obvious.

Common sense would indicate I wouldn't mind any player working out with our best player. So then we move along to the rest of what nikkkkk said, which was saying that Exum and Hayward are similar players, which is quite frankly, ridiculous.

Maybe just a response to kkk's original post something to the tune of "hopefully Hayward will work out with exum and try to be a mentor to him, but I think thier skillsets are completely different"

Maybe just a little courtesy. It was not like he said something rude or outlandish that deserved rudeness or criticism.
Or maybe just not responding to his post at all would have been the right thing to do.
After all it's not a given that Hayward and exum will work out together so I think it's ok for one love to express his hope that they will work out together.

Remeber hantlers, God is watching. wwjd?

If kkk wasn't a troll I probably would have been a little more courteous, buuuuuuut he's well known for being trollish and making outlandish statements. Besides, he wasn't offended by it, as evidenced by him repping my post.

Fair enough

From what I read in his blog, he spent most of his time working out in Indy at some gym. Then he spent time with Team USA and went back to Indy after being cut. He would make flights out to P3 so they could do test and stuff, and went back to Utah (I think he was one of the later arrivals) to do some early open gym stuff.

He did seem to spend a lot more time in Indy this year than most years but who knows if that is always his plan.

Well for the record I stopped trolling since I've changed to ONE LOVE.

I am still scratching my head though as to why you don't think Exum would benefit from working out with Hayward.

That's not at all what I said. Try reading my posts again.

He didn't have a problem with the part of your post saying exum should hang out with Hayward.

He just didn't like the part where you compared them as similar players

The Jazz should be able to hold in the top 8 of the draft. Most likely pick would be #7 right now.

1 Okafor
2 Towns
3 Mudiay
4 Johnson
5 Stein
6 Porzingis
7 Russel / Hezonja / Winslow

What are everyones thoughts on Kelly Oubre? I think hes going to be very good. That Galletti podcast referenced us needing a jack of all trades wing also, Dennis Lindsey referenced a hypothetical situation where the jazz might be in a position to draft a guy that might need more development time but has more upside. I think this guy is Oubre. He reminds me of a classic Kawhi Leonard / Paul George / Jimmy Butler under the radar pick. Hes got it all. Am i missing something? Honest question.

Oubre does have upside. Oubre's been considered a top 10 pick all year. He got a slow start at Kansas, but is starting to put it together. He's a good, natural shooter with a high and quick lefty release, a bit like Hood, and he's a good, mostly straight-line athlete with length. Physically he's a bit similar to a Jeremy Lamb or Trevor Ariza. Oubre hasn't put in a ton of effort on defense or rebounding. So effort on that end of the floor has been a question mark.

Still, I think when Lindsey is talking about upside, he's probably talking about Porzingis or Hezonja. Winslow has upside too. Same with Russel. You can even make an argument for Looney. There's good talent through the top 10 picks.

Thanks for the reply. I havent had a chance to see Oubre play except for when he played the utes. I must admit he didnt jump off the screen for me then. Interesting that he doesnt put as much effort into defending. Im just glad this draft has some wings. It also sounds like there are some stretch 4s, although i think our Matt Bonner can be had eventually in free agency or in a non lottery pick. Thanks again, Catchall.

Thanks. I should have clarified but ive seen his highlights haha. I just havent seen him in a full game. I like to see how a player is from an effort and attitude standpoint that you dont get from highlights. But thanks for posting this. I love how long and athletic he is. I also like that he shoots well and his drives are not too complicated. Hes not really a shot creator but in a read and react system i think thats okay. I also read that his wingspan is kawhi like. Makes me giddy!!

I don't see him as a first-option scorer at this stage. He's more of a supporting player and floor-spacer. The Jazz really need a go-to scorer out on the floor. In this draft, the potential go-to scorers look to be:

Okafor
Towns
Porzingis
Russell
Hezonja
Maybe Mudiay

These are guys who have shown enough size, shooting touch, handle, quickness and body control at their respective positions to get buckets.

Ever since I dreamed us getting him in the draft in front of Winslow, Hezonja and Johnson, he's been playing much better and shooting better in an obvious attempt to make me look foolish and regret saying that. At the beginning of the season he looked completely clueless. I'm still not too crazy about him, but I have to admit my opinion is probably heavily influenced by his first games because I haven't really watched Kansas much past the first couple of weeks of the season. I reserve the right to adjust my opinion by the time of the draft - he's definitely already climbing back on the horizon for the place where we might be drafting.
