Following potential 2015 draftees

I'm not really down with tanking, but I would tank for Russell.

Me too. Russell can flat out ball. Not the MOST athletic, but certainly not deficient athletically, good shot, good handle, good passer, good driver, etc.

Just think him and Exum would be a good Ying-Yang backcourt. Both similar size and both can be PG/SG. Russell is the offense first guy and Exum is the passer/defender.

Imagine Russell on the other side of Exum's drive and kick-outs. We desperately need some shooting and scoring. Let alone he seems able to create his own shot and shoots it extremely well off the dribble.

The thing with Russell's man-on-man defense is... we can't really see if he's any good at it because OSU plays mostly zone. His contests on jumpers haven't been great, but his size is pretty good, 6'5, 6'8.5'' wingspan from 1.5 years ago(he might have grown a bit since then) and I don't see a reason why he can't be at least above average defender. He doesn't seem to be explosive or extremely quick, but I guess we can use Exum guarding the quicker/more dangerous guy from opponent's backcourt duo if Russell has a problem with on-man defense.

To cut it short - I've been extremely impressed with him and I'd be willing to put him very close to the top of my board this year.

Hezonja played 17 minutes today against Crvena Zvezda in the Euroleague... Statline:

12pts(4/10FG, 2/5 3pFG, 2/2 FT), 5 rbs, 2 ast, 1 stl, 1to... Good game in a win for FCB

Porzingis with another great game the other day in the Eurocup vs Lietuvos Rytas. Statline:
23mins, 18pts(6/11 FG, 2/3 3pFG, 4/5 FT), 4 rbs, 1 ast, but had 4 TOs

Is Porz much of a rebounder?

Good offensive rebounder thanks to length, size and athleticism, but not so good defensive rebounder because of lack of strength... opponents move him really easily and he has trouble fighting for position.

Russell will probably not be a very good defender, but who cares, we have Gobert and Favors down low. It's not like Steph Curry really plays defense, but he has Bogut and Green down low and Thompson on the wing.

Favors and Gobert are our Green and Bogut, and Exum is our Thompson (defensively speaking).

I don't think we'll finish low enough to get Russell though. He's solidly top #4 now. Better to not have your hopes up.

Here's the thing with athleticism--some of it really matters and some of it doesn't. Having quick hands and good timing/coordination matters, having quick feet and moving well laterally matters, having a quick second jump matters, having endurance and being able to run all day matters....but max vertical, full-court sprint and bench pressing don't matter much. It's actually rare that players ever run at full speed or jump with max vertical, and I have yet to see how bench pressing matters much. Maybe post players should do squats or dead lifts in tests, as that could be relevant, but whatever.

Also Russell is the most statistically impressive freshman guard in years. Here's the top freshmen guards with over 28% usage ranked by offensive rating over the last 10 years:

Russell - 120.1 ORTG
McCollum - 118.8 ORTG
Curry - 116.9 ORTG
Harden - 115.7 ORTG

Okafor
Towns
Mudiay
Russell
Johnson

I just want one of these guys. We need to lose more.

Unfortunately you may be right. Like Jazzfanz, DX also seems to be gravitating toward Russell and Johnson. They're now #4 & 5 on its mock draft. We're at #7 in draft position. We're in the middle of a big, easily changeable scrum. Within four games on either side of us are teams from current draft position 4-14 (well, actualy 4-13; nine of the teams are in the East and one would make the playoffs as of today).

DX has been reading JazzFanz. We should just pimp the hell out of the Harrison twins or something.

I'm not sure I'd take Mudiay over Russell.

****, we need to get back into the bottom 5. Adding a piece like Russell to our group could put us over the top.

I have the same feeling about Booker's shot as I have about Klay's or Curry's... I always feel like it's going in.

Yeah, I hope we lose all games from here to the end of the season. Worst case scenario, 4th pick :D

Personally, I'd rather just get the 13th pick instead of another potential star that will help us win a title. We don't wanna develop a losing culture like GS. In fact, I wish we had never tanked for Exum. We're never gonna recover from that.
