Can we please figure out what colt45's real rep power would be?
Colton's rep power calculates out to a 61.
Ok here is the first of the advanced stats: **RP/P or Rep Points per Post. I did the calculation on the guys with Rep Power over 100. It is simply the total rep points divided by number of posts. In descending order of RP/P:
3.84 - QSH*
3.35 - LazyD
2.53 - Hack
2.42 - Fish
2.13 - LG98
2.11 - Spy
1.88 - StifleTower
1.47 - UGLI
1.31 - Stoked
1.25 - PKM
1.23 - OneLove
So this shows how much your posts are valued. The higher the number, the more you are contributing to the site based on reps alone.
*I added QSH in there because I saw his raw numbers and knew the resulting RP/P would be pretty high, and it was. Anyone can calculate and post their own pretty easily and see how you stack up to the guys with the highest rep power on the site.
**I would say it should probably be at least 1000 posts to really be valid, kind of like the base numbers to allow stats in the NBA. The dude who plays for 25 minutes in one game and hits 4 of 5 3's in his one shot does not win the 3 pt crown for 80% 3 pt FG %, for example.
This is cool, but it will obviously always inflate the stats of anyone who just started posting or has been posting a lot recently.
Somebody who posted 10,000 times back when rep was like +10 points gets destroyed compared to some dork like QSH who is getting +100 each time he says something about kissing boys.

Again it would be interesting to see the RP/P stat by forum. See who has the best contributions in General, Jazz Forum, etc.

I can see how the intricacies of rep can be fascinating and of a certain importance if you're posting a lot and enjoy the climb as you move up through the 30s and 40s and eventually into the 50s and 60s, where the summit finally comes into view. When you leave the 80s and hit 90 you know it's just a matter of time. Then suddenly, after the euphoria of hitting 100 fades, you realize the party's over and posting will never be quite the same. No more rocks to push up the mountain. Sisyphus knew that happiness is in the struggle, but he always had his rock and his mountain, his struggle never ended. It's much more simple for posters like myself who flounder around in the teens and will never make it out of the twenties. For us, rep is more of a curiosity. There is no rock and the mountain is a just a picture on the wall. We have to find our struggle elsewhere.
Who does coding? We need someone to write a google analytics type of code to more accurately evaluate the rep system.
Or just adopt more of a "who cares" attitude!
Suddenly eliminating rep right now would change the dynamic of the board imo.
