Golden State visits the Holy Jazz - An Official Game Thread

I don't think id have as much of a problem with his poor percentages if he didn't have the two or three shots a night that are just awful. Took a long two after not making a pass at all with like 15 seconds left on the shot clock. Then that layup attempt at the end? Just pull it out and run clock.

The ball sticks with him a lot and he over dribbles it kills what we are trying to do sometimes.

Favorite part of the game was Exum dying after catching shoulder from Green. He went to the locker room to throw up afterwards.

That's a ****ty favorite part of the game... I liked when Gobert was eating souls

I was signing in just to say this, since I just checked the box score. I cringed when Trey came in even though he had more points, assists etc. than Exum. Exum is a legit defender, and I can only imagine his defense in four years when he's the ripe age of 23. His set shot is workable, and he has excellent court vision on the offensive end. When he starts to use his speed on offense and gets to the line, he's going to grow into that number 5 pick.

A couple things Dante has to work on with his defense though.
- Getting around screens. If its a good pick, Exum gets hung on it for ages. He doesn't have the core strength to really push his body around the screens at sharp angles to recover to a useful spot after the initial pick. Exum has the potential to get a lot of block shots from behind if the other PG pulls up for a mid range shot with his length, but he gets caught up on the screen so much now that he's not even close to the shooter
- Also related to strength, there was one play this game Klay drove and Exum had great defensive position and stayed in front of him. But Klay just sort of muscled in right through Exum and made a sort of half circus shot. Exum can't maintain his position on drivers just cuz they barrel right over him right now

He'd be so much better if he just passed the ball more. He made some tough and critical shots tonight, but he just seems to not run the offense at all.

We do need wings that can do something other than make two dribbles and either turn it over or pass it out.

Ingles has looked good last few games... He'd be nice to keep around as a 9th man type.

I think dante being a ball mover... Even though it's a bit annoying sometimes... Really helps the offense go.

Again, I really don't mind Burke trying these difficult layups in transition and in traffic. That has always been the area he needs to improve the most and it's a part of the game that really has to be practiced in-game and is hard to simulate in practice. I don't mind him trying to see if he can do it. It's good practice. We all wish Dante would try that.

As far as Burke's lack of stellar passing, I agree. He is a very uncreative passer and doesn't have great vision, but on the flip side he hardly ever turns the ball over, which is a real positive on a team that is extremely turnover prone.

Good points. I'm less worried about his body than anything else. Joy Ingles said that Dante doesn't really even shave yet, except for his horrible mustache. I've come to the conclusion that he's going to require A LOT of patience, but I'm convinced he will be a player that makes the team that he's on a lot better.

Gobert gonna make the top plays tonight.

The ball just sticks to him... It really messes **** up. Kanter had the same problem.

My worry with Dante is we will have to wait to be elite until he arrives... That wait seems really long right now. I worry we may miss the window to be good with Hayward and favors.

That was the most entertaining game I've seen in years.

Credit goes to Quin, who is getting supreme effort and buy in despite the record. He's one hell of a coach. I don't know of any other coach in this league who would be getting the effort that we're getting right now.

If you just saw the last few games you'd swear the Jazz were a playoff team fighting for a top seed.

Did you see Gordon, the vanilla cobra, Hayward? He owned those guys tonight.

Dante will be top 5 PG in 3-4 years.

I hope so. Id like to see a big jump from him next year. He looks good on D, but I expected a little more out of him this year. I knew he was a project but I'd like to see a few wow plays every now and again.

It wasn't just one player I saw, but an entire team. Ingles dominated that first qtr, burke bailed us out a few times, Gobert was a factor, favors jumper was Malone like, Booker was incredible, and Millsap (a d leaguer looked great).

That's Snyder's fault. For a team with zero playoff hopes they are playing their asses off. In an era of tank tank tank, what Snyder is doing with this team with a long history of half *** effort, is nothing short of COY worthy. I know he won't win it but the difference between this team and the team of the last few years is night and day despite having the same core.

Imo, the biggest surprise of the year has been the rookie coach completely changing this team around.
