The Official 2014/15 Tank Watch thread

BTW, Motum is the 5th leading scorer and 5th leading rebounder in the NBL, averaging 18/7. He's also shown a nice touch from 3PT range shooting 44% (20-46). I think there's a very good chance Motum makes the team next season.

Same NBL Ingles was the best player in?

Who cares? If we want to be a playoff team next year we have to start signing legit rotation players, not Motums.

Russell got me feeling some type of way.

Welcome to the dark side my friend, and help yourself to the cookies. Still, I have to wonder if getting Russell would make us better than the development we would miss from winning a couple extra games. Not.

Just read about some of D'angelo Russell's stat lines the last couple game...WOW!

Gobert/???
Favors/Booker
Hayward/Hood/Ingles
Russell/Burks/Hood
Exum/Burke/Clark

Russell can keep up his progress on scoring, assists and rebounds...

My main question is how is his defense?

Main hole in that roster is the backup C. Didn't list Kanter as he is an RFA
I think alot of folks believe russell to be a point guard so you may have to swap russell and exum in your lineup

I'd say Ingles is a legit rotation player. Certainly not a guy you want playing 25-30 minutes, but he's fine getting around 10 mins. Motum would be the third center behind Gobert and either Kanter or Favors. If Kanter is traded or the Jazz don't match, the Jazz will need another center. The primary rotation at the 4/5 would still be Gobert/Favors/Booker.

The Kings play at Indiana tonight so one of those two teams will win. Hopefully the Pacers.

The Magic play at home vs. Dallas who played last night.

The Pistons play at home vs. Houston.

Charlotte plays Denver so again, one of those two teams will win.

Are you sure we want indiana to win? Indiana plays in the east so it seems lie wins should be easier to come by for them.

Or maybe you figure there is no way we can out tank corbin so the kings passing us is a lost cause.

I trust your judgement on this

Who can we get at #12?

Honestly, I think that 12 might be too optimistic at this point. Jazz are tied for 9/10 and improving through increased playing time, experience for a young team and through good coaching.

Even with a crappy bench, this team has been competitive in every game that they've hustled in, and won a few of them. As other teams start failing because they're missing the playoffs, I expect the Jazz to get better.

People keep talking about the record as compared to last year, but I guarantee that the Jazz will not finish as badly as they did last year. The team gave up on Corbin at the end of last year, while they seem to be getting stronger and more comfortable under Quin Snyder. They won't compete for the 8th seed this year (because they've lost too many games where the bench killed them in the middle of the game) but they should be competing for the playoffs next year if they continue to progress at their current pace.

Well, apparently, the Jazz are putting a lot of effort into scouting. If Rudy ends up a top-5 center picked from the 27th spot, that's impressive.

There are some sleeper picks in the 9 - 12 range that could end up being as good and impactful as guys in the 5 - 8 range. Both Booker and Lyles are sleepers, especially Lyles, and I'd be cool with either of them. Hezonja could slip into that range if it's not clear he's coming over immediately.

The Jazz could also move their pick and a player to move up, if they're keyed in on someone a bit higher up.

If the Jazz want to pick up Hezonja, they should probably move Hood or Burks to make room anyway.

Sigh. This. We could really use a Hayward minor injury of sorts. Tweaked hammy or something, out two weeks, go 0-7.

Lol. Yep, Utah is going to need some creative management or injury luck. I'm not giving up on a decent pick yet, though. Once Rudy started playing out of is mind, it seemed pretty clear that Utah would have to limit his minutes to keep him from killing the tank, and it looks to me that they're trying to do that somewhat. Kind of ****ty for Rudy, but if we can draft another piece to the puzzle, it will be worth it in the long run.

Minnesota has Rubio coming back soon. Pecovic and Martin are also back to playing again and Wiggins has been a beast as of late. Minnesota should start winning some more games pretty soon.

We are 9 games ahead of the timberwolves. It is conceivable that we could lose all of the rest of the games this season and they STILL wouldn't pass us in the standings. For all these supposed stars in waiting that team is a dumpster fire to be sure and Rubio isn't going to be their savior. Don't worry though, we drink Timberwolf blood. There is a pretty good chance that if they get the #1 pick by record, we will just punk them in the lottery.

Yes, that's my take. The reason I said #12 is that I see the Jazz likely passing up all the non-EC playoff teams. However, they won't catch OKC or New Orelans. Both of those teams will miss the playoffs with .500 records.

Geez, for some reason I thought the Kings only had like 11 wins. I'll take that Kings win.

Detroit coming up big for us. We currently have the 8th most lotto balls. I don't want to win any more for a while. Like lose a lot of close games or something. The 10th-12th pick would suck when we're so so close to being a legit freakin' team.

Ya it seems (from what the draft thread dudes are saying) that this draft is pretty top heavy out to about the 7 or 8 pick, and then there is a significant drop off.

But Damn that win against the warriors sure was fun
