The New England Patriots vs the Seattle Seahawks. Superbowl XLIX thread.

A couple of questions to ponder:

1) If you are the Patriots, which do you prefer the Seahawks do in that situation? Run or Pass?

2) If Lynch gets stuffed twice there at the goal line and the Seahawks lose, how many people are complaining about those play calls after the game?

1) Pass
2) If they ran it with Lynch and got stuffed they would have taken a timeout than tried two passes in the end zone. Hard to complain about that.

My friend posted a video of the play on Instagram.

You can hear me yelling "No No No!" As soon as Wilson drops back to pass.

WTFFFFFF Seahawks???

Hopefully the Seahawks won't make the superbowl for 50 or 60 years now. We need a good solid curse going in the NFL....besides the curse of being owned by late era Al Davis and sons.

The curse of you picking a team to win is sufficient.

Didn't work for Oregon versus Ohio State, Utah versus Arizona, Utah staying in the top 10, or Kentucky covering the spread against Bama. But hey, get caught up on the one miss over the last few weeks if that improves your condition.

Worst. Play. Call. Ever.

This is for all the marbles. You have a throw-away play (2nd and goal at the >1??), and you have the best RB in the game, who has been absolutely killing it. You run the ball. You punch it through. This isn't even debatable how ridiculously stupid that play call was. Everyone I know was jaw-dropped at how stupid that was. Really?

Now I don't really care because I was rooting for the Pats anyway, but good hell. How stupid can you be. And this is not Monday-morning quarterbacking, this is seriously 2nd-and-short 101, it is that basic. Run the ball on that play, call the time out if necessary afterward. Does anyone think they would have really stuffed Marshawn at the >1 yard line? If so I have some ocean-front property in Nebraska for sale.

This will go down as one of the great sports blunders of all time. Book it.

Not only did Madden NFL 15 accurately predict that the New England Patriots would mount a last minute comeback to defeat the Seattle Seahawks by a score of 28-24, it even foresaw Tom Brady’s fourth-quarter game-winning pass to Julian Edelman.

And that was just the tip of the prognostication iceberg.

Madden predicted New England would score first in the game. It predicted Tom Brady would take home the MVP trophy. It was 27 yards off Brady’s total passing yardage (355 vs. 328) and got his total touchdowns (4). It was only 3 yards and 1 catch away from perfectly calling Julian Edelman’s entire game.

That WAS the absolute worse play called in the HISTORY of the NFL, not just the Super Bowl! I don't care if the Sea Hawks had Jerry Rice and Terrell Owens as wide receivers.....you STILL run the ball two more times with Lynch! I don't care if they substituted the Sea Hawks offensive line with the Sea Hawks "Cheerleaders".....you still run the ball twice with Lynch! I had no vestige interest in this game whatsoever, but that was the worse play called after a time out that I've ever seen in my life! It's not like the Sea Hawks were "struggling" to run the ball all game long! Plus, that pass play over the middle is fraught with dangers! A lineman could tip the ball....it could bounce off the shoulder pads of any of the lineman....it could go through the hands of the intended receiver and be picked off! I've got a buddy that swears these modern coaches who went to college back in the 60's and 70's....smoked as much dope as the players do and that's why they make these p-poor decisions during the game!

hoppers laugh

Even more odd is CJ seeming to imply that Terrell Owens was a good wide receiver. Dude was clearly a dope smoking hip-hop headed hopper.

The worst play call ever. No exaggeration, no hyperbole, that was the dumbest play call ever in the history of football

...got to agree 100% with the Nate man here! Oh, by the way, it was also the worse Half-time show of any Super Bowl and the worse commercials of any of the Super Bowls! It was, however, a great football game to watch!

I am ashamed for having read into the paragraph that far to mine that gem.

I agree. Reading that post is like having your best friend amputate your right arm and watching him pleasure himself with your freshly severed limb.
