The Official 2014/15 Tank Watch thread

I can't believe how bad SAC has been.. too bad they didn't hire a coach.

Seeing how craptastic they are right now, I'm even more impressed by Mike Malone. If I were running a team, I'd have snapped him up to coach my defense. He might not have much creativity, but he teaches good, fundamental defense.

Lol. Yep, Utah is going to need some creative management or injury luck. I'm not giving up on a decent pick yet, though. Once Rudy started playing out of is mind, it seemed pretty clear that Utah would have to limit his minutes to keep him from killing the tank, and it looks to me that they're trying to do that somewhat. Kind of ****ty for Rudy, but if we can draft another piece to the puzzle, it will be worth it in the long run.

Sorry but that just sounds so wrong, and I hope it's not the case. It would be yet more proof that the current draft system is a failure, having teams have to not play the best players for tanking purposes. Needs to be changed, start a 5 year position average or something. Have a team try to suck for 5 years in a row, see where the fan base goes...

I doubt Quin is purposely limiting Gobert's minutes so Utah can lose more games. When all 4 bigs are healthy, minutes are going to get squeezed. I think Quin and DL can see Gobert will be the eventual starter. What Utah HAS to determine is what to do with Kanter - and, to a lesser extent, Booker. Either one of those two could be traded at the deadline. So it makes sense to give them minutes to increase trade value. I have to admit my opinion on Kanter changes often - and sometimes every 5 minutes during a game.

Tonight was the kind of loss we need to keep that tank alive.
No, I wasn't cheering for a loss. In fact, I'd LOVE the Jazz to drop to #14, if it meant Exum suddenly went beast mode.

When asked how many shots Dante would like to make in a game, this was his response:

Six points TOTAL in his last five games. I'm pretty sure most of us could do that by just flinging the ball at the hoop. But take heart, Dante; you still have another cliff to fall off of before you equal the amazing stinkitude of last season's tank commander, John Lucas III.

Another good loss by us last night...played competitively on the road. Just not well enough. The even better news is the Pacers, Magic, Celtics, Pistons and Nets ALL WON. We currently are slotted with the sixth amount of balls.

Hoping we can stay at #6. I guess Orlando has a shot at finishing with a better record than us, but I don't see LA, Minn, Phi or NY winning more.

I agree.
5th is best case scenario

Good position to land Mario or Johnson.

I hope we win every last game and get lucky in the lottery or the draft. We have enough young talent. It's time to admit YB85 was right, you can build and stay competitive like Atlanta or Detroit. Let's start winning and build on this group, not the next unknown.

I agree, but mainly because this draft sucks, imo.
I admit I may feel differently if we were a spot or two away from landing a team-changer.. but it doesn't appear that's the case.

Remember that time the 2013 draft sucked and we got Rudy Gobert?

;)
