Update on the weekly games of Hezonja and Porzingis...

Hezonja started for Barcelona today and played 21 mins in a win vs FIATC Juventut. Hezonja finished with 16 pts(5/8FG, 4/7 3P FG, 2/2 FT), 5rbs, 1 ast, 2 stl, 2to.
Porzingis started for Sevilla and played 26 mins. Finished with 9pts(3/8 FG, 0/2 3P FG, 3/3 FT), 7 rbs, 1 ast, 2 stl, 1bl...

Here's highlights from Sevilla's win. Porzingis with some impressive athletic dunks, but also you can see him struggling off the ball in defense. He loses his man several times:

Sounds like another impressive game from Hezonja... he's definitely growing on me.

I hate international players because I don't know much about them.
Having said that, I am buying the Hezonja stock and selling on Porzingis.

OK, here's a full half with Porzingis off the bench. He has shown the willingness to play defense, can guard out to the 3pt line (1 on 1 against a PG he was mobile enough to chased after him for a nice block), very mobile. He's also very mobile on offense, setting picks, handling the ball, passing, etc. Had a nice alleyoop, had a nice off the dribble drive (was fouled), rebounded in traffic (fouled), knocking down FTs like it's his 2nd nature.

Overall, he seems very smart both on offense and defense. Compared to Kanter, Porzingis is much more mobile, quicker, more athletic, much better on defense with long arms. By my count he had 2 blocks in the half, utilising his quickness, defensive hustle & long arms. Reads the game well, a willing passer. Comfortable shooting the 3pt shot which could only get better with time & training.

It's really REALLY impressive that Hezonja has kept his minutes and is now even starting for Barcelona after they got all their injured players back. He's made some serious strides with his play this season.

Porzingis has a ton of potential but his body frame bothers me. The more I see him play the more worried I am that he simply doesn't have a position he can guard in the NBA. He's not fast enough to guard 3s and he's not strong enough to guard 4s and I am really skeptical that any of those can change. Even though, he's been having some good games lately, his stock with me has gone down in the last month.

Name all the current NBA 4s that play bully ball.

Most of the 4s I've seen when playing against Novak... when they have a mismatch, every competent 4 will bully him. Porzingis is getting bullied in Spain regularly, I don't see a reason why it won't be happening in the NBA as well...

Not gonna name them all but just a few off the top of my head without looking anything up who can play bully ball would be.
David west, zack randolph, blake griffin, lamarcus aldridge, derrick favors, anthony davis, paul millsap, serge ibaka, julius randle, kevin love, greg monroe, nene, faried, pau

Now not all of those guys play bully ball alot but every one of them COULD push porzingas around down low if they choose to

Dirk was also a skinny white kid once upon a time too though? I'm not a doctor/physiologist so I wouldn't know but most bigs fill out their frames don't they?

Remember, Gobert was really really skinny last year and he really became much stronger/bulkier this year.

Not sure if this was posted yet, but it gives a good look at Booker's game.

My only concern with Booker is physically he looks to me more like a JJ Redick than a Klay Thompson (even if you project him 3-4 years later).

Do we want a JJ Redick with our #8 pick?

With the #6 - #14 range, isn't that the range where we "shoot for the stars" so to speak? Swing for the fence and grab someone who could potentially be GREAT like Klay Thompson, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George?

I'd take JJ w/ the 8th pick. Last time I checked he has been a starter on good playoff teams.
