What's new

It's happening bros...

Jody Genessy just came out saying that the Jazz offered Kanter a 4 year 38 mil contract but his camp turned it down. They wanted Hayward type money.

Are you kidding me? If that's what the pay day they are looking for then bye felicia

If that's true good for Utah...though I've been wrong on saying that before (said it about Matthews and I wish they had him back). Still, as of now no way in hell.

Nah, when you go over which teams have the money to actually spend, none of them would value Kanter at that price. At this point Kanter needs to worry about the length of the contract just as much, if not more, than the dollar value. 4 years at 38 million was a legit offer for Kanter.

And they could have squeezed a few million more if that's what they wanted. But given the gap between what the Jazz were offering and what Kanter's camp was expecting, further negotiation would have been a waste of time.

FYI it was 4 years and 32 M. It is still a fair offer. Anything from $8-$10 M per would be fair, but at this point I don't see him taking that. He can make almost $8 on the QO and then enter a market where almost every team has space. He will have more suitors so long as he has stayed healthy.

This is our only chance to move on and get something for it imo. If he can get 12+ M after next season I am not sure I want him around at that price. The extra year of Enes is not really appealing to me.

Feel out the best offer DL... and then take it.

DL offers 38 million and they want 63 million lol. When you are separated by that much I don't think there is a deal to be made between the Jazz and Kanter.
Unfortunately, NO ONE is going to pay that much for Kanter. He's playing for the QO next season which effectively kills his trade value. A 2nd is probably the best we could hope for if Ergul is truly asking for a max contract. He's a 1/2 season rental this season and will play for a 1-yr deal (or the QO) next year.

Jazz should sign Enes on an eternal contract that is only based on premium per assist and double premium per double-digit assists.

If money is what you want, here you go!

Come on Enes, what's the matter?

About an hour ago he posted a trade was unlikely.
But this news that leaked about a possible contract offer MIGHT be a good thing. Don't want to read too much into it, but perhaps the Jazz FO wants to show fams they tried to keep Enes by making him a reasonable offer. That way even the casual fan will be behind whatever trade is made.

PLS god, get us Kris Middleton. I will ****ing weep tears of joy. Streak across my college campus. I dunno. Some crazy **** like that.

Oh, and lol at Kanter turning down that offer. 38mill in 4 years? Perfect offer, and I wouldn't offer him a penny more. He is not worth 7 figures. Dump his ***, let's get a shooter, and let's draft well. Playoffs are near.

Kevin Pelton on Kanter

Enes Kanter | F/C | Utah Jazz

Kanter
Kanter's public trade demand last week cut into the Jazz's leverage for shopping the restricted free agent, whose style doesn't match the team's vision. The bigger problem is finding a market for Kanter, with few teams in need of a big man who doesn't protect the rim. As with Bass, Toronto might be the best fit. Kanter would be an upgrade over Tyler Hansbrough off the bench. That might be enough to get the Raptors to part with a pick.

Bruno Caboclo would do it for me, honestly.

Masai is too smart to let him go.

Bucks have made some dumb asset management in years previous-- hoping history repeats itself.

I can see why they turned it down. Per minute, he's a better offensive player than Favors, who took less than what he probably would have received on the open market. I would have said a decent compromise for Kanter would have been the same contract Favors received.

Dude. Why are we ignoring defense.

I'm not. But offense is "sexy" and generally has higher value when contracts or trades come around. Kanter - if given equal minutes - is a better scorer and rebounder than Favors. Favors, obviously, is a better defender.

I agree.
Before this season started alot of this forum loved kanter and thought he was a big part of the jazz future. Hayward had just got a HUGE payday. Favors signed for 48 million.
I totally see why they turned down that offer...... hell, I bet his next contract is for more per year than that.

The primary reason for an offer right now is to determine how hard they should be working to trade him. I think this means he is gone if they get a decent offer. If he would have taken the offer at an amount the Jazz thought was fair they keep him.
