What's new

Following potential 2015 draftees

1. Okafor
2. Russell
3. Towns
4. Mudiay
5. Hezonja
6. Johnson
7. WCS
8. Oubre
9. Winslow
10. Booker
11. Porzingis

A couple things---

* Why so down on Porzingis? I'd absolutely take him ahead of Oubre and Winslow.

* I think Oubre and Johnson are going to be very close in the draft and may end up working out against each other. Oubre could be the better player.

My take du jour:

1- Okafor (best asset, might trade the pick)
2- Russell (elite backcourt talent, very advanced for a freshman)
3- Mudiay (somewhat rich man's Tyreke Evans, but real PG, potentially dominant player)
4- Towns (taller, longer Greg Monroe with some rim protection--I'm not 100% sure he's really an All Star)
5- Hezonja (Like Manu Ginobli, but bigger; similar swag and 2-way potential)
6- Cauley-Stein (mobile length and defensive timing, DPOY candidate)
7- Porzingis (prototypical stretch-big with some defense and inside scoring; question is how he stands up to NBA physicality)
8- Oubre (prototypical NBA 3/D wing, with decent IQ, scoring instincts and intangibles; better mobility than Johnson)
9- Looney (the guy can play--unselfish, good passer, good rebounder, nice glue guy)
10- Stanley Johnson (tough, defensive-minded wing--e.g., Demarre Carroll) or Trey Lyles (I think he'll rise on boards if he comes out; he's fluid and skilled, just getting hidden at UK)

He's thin/weak. His upside is shooting. I am not all that hyped on bigs that promise to stretch the floor but not defensively elite. It's a real reach when doing so.

Good post. Swap Kelly "McLemore" Oubre with Johnson and it's also my list.

New prediction.
Whichever team takes Andrew Harrison in late first/early second, will be happy.

Why? Does his mom bake delicious cookies?

Is it possible he is improving? I haven't seen UK play in a minute. Nor anyone really. You know how it is.

Offensively he is very very intriguing. He can shoot on spot up, off screen 3s, some turn around mid-range jumpers. And to add to that... he's freakishly athletic/long. He's been having some extremely impressive finishes/dunks in the paint lately - seems like he dunks everything around the rim. If his handle is stable enough to drive from the perimeter to the rim he be very dangerous and versatile offensive player.

My problem with him is his body frame and what that means for his defense. I am very worried about it.

I can see how Porzingis is tempting, but Tskitishvili set back everything Dirk built for decades. I think Porzingis is the biggest Boom - Bust pick in the draft. I'm beginning to think Cauley-Stein and Booker are two of the safest considering where they are being projected!

I'd have to see him next to other prospects. He lists at 220 lbs, which is about the same as Ed Davis was. He's not as skinny as Nerlens Noel was. He could use 10 - 15 lbs for sure, but you have to think a 19 year-old can put that on.

I really liked his footwork and fluidity. He's a very interesting prospect for sure.

Absolutely. He should be able to put on some weight. I think he would be the ideal guy to go with Favors/Gobert if Kanter is traded. That is why i like him over WCS.

Booker definitely rising on draft boards. WCS is nasty! Wouldn't mind either. tbh. Love those KU players.

Just kidding, Dr. Jones; I know it's UK.
