Big game for the Jazz yesterday. I woke up at 3 am to see the team and i was not disappointed. I think rudy was a little nervous at the beginning. It's gonna be better on tuesday. Oh and ya I forgot Hello everybody, i am a new member from France. Useless to tell you that my english is not very good :) . Go Jazz !

He had 5 blocks and forced them to take bad shots. LA had favors posted up and he saw Rudy stepping over to help so he passed it out with less than 10 on the shot clock. He knew he couldn't take both of them.

Favors + Gobert is going to be the best defensive front court in the league book it.

Yeah, that was an amazing play by Gobert. His help defense is just so far ahead of Kanter's, just from a cerebral standpoint. Length doesn't even matter (it does, but you know what I mean), Kanter just can't think the game out like that.

That play was telling. Aldridge wanted that shot, he was looking for it the entire time. Then as he spins to shoot he sees Gobert and passes it out. That's his move he takes that shot 99% of the time in that spot and he got intimidated into passing it out. Then Gobert gets back to his guy before the guy he kicked it to can throw it inside to him.

He seems to make it 99% of the time too.

Everyone gets on Kanter because of his RPM. However Gobert was minus this game while LA was positive. The Utah bench outplayed the Portland bench is the reason for this blowout and everyone is ready to crown Gobert as a taller version of Bill Russel.

There's too many variables going on to draw conclusions like that. Replace Gobert with Kanter and the Jazz get KILLED by Portland's starters as Kanter would have been eaten alive by Aldridge.

Remember how frustrating it was to watch Lamar odom and pau gasol terrorize memo and boozer? That crap would not happen with rudy and favors. These dudes are the defending big men we have been asking for for a decade.

Gobert has a Tyson Chandler effect on teams. He plays with an edge and is a leader, so he gets his teammates locked in. He's so long, agile, and smart, that he can go from one side of the court to the other in a blink of an eye. The only guys I've seen do that in my lifetime are Tyson, KG, and maybe Ben Wallace (but he wasn't nearly as tall as those others). The guy just erases shots. He'll always be good for 2-4 blocks per game but the amount of shots he erases are countless.

We indeed have a special player.

For the whining "we did not get enough for Kanter" crowd, here is part of what you got with Kanter being traded:

Portland: 76 points, 36% shooting, a 16 point easy victory. Addition by subtraction. How much frustration was building in the team by having to play Kanter big minutes while watching him play matador "defense"? Quite a bit I would bet.

We also get more Booker, who provides a buffing effect to the team with his energy. Him and Gobert are legitimate bad-asses who make our team more confident.

Jazz came in prepared last night and ready to play. Really a testament to their coach getting the team up after such a long break.

Portland looked like a team that was off for 9 days. I think it's pretty clear they underestimated Utah and thought the game would be a repeat of their last one and they could just start raining 3's at will on Utah in the second half.

Don't think they underestimated us. I mean, we just played them not too long ago and they only won by 1 on their home-court.
