How crazy am I that I would rather have Matthews at 14 per, than Leonard?
Pretty crazy.
Leonard, to me, is a poor man's AK, in that he can't shoot or carry a team offensively, but is special defensively.
Been there, done that. No thanks. Matthews can impact the game defensively just as good, and is a much better shooter and fit for Utah.
That being said, I'm basing all this off Exum becoming an All-Star.
I guess what I'm saying in all my ramblings is that we have defense, elite defense right now: Gobert, Favors, Hayward, Exum. We need shooters/scoring. Leonard doesn't fit that. Matthews does. So, for the money, I'd rather not have Leonard.
Where does the shooting come from if we max out Big Hands?

Kawhi is doing them a favor so they can chase a FA before they sign him. I think it's similar to what Chandler Parsons was originally doing with Houston when the Rockets were chasing Bosh. Bosh needed to sign first or they wouldn't have had cap space. Of course Parsons then bolted for more money. I DOUBT Kawhi would do the same since they are willing to go the max.I'm not saying there's a good chance at all that the Spurs wouldn't match, but I think it's ****ing weird that they didn't offer it to him already and am seriously curious as to why. If you think a player is a legit cornerstone to your franchise moving forward, you don't jerk them around.
There's no one here that will be saying we should wait till Gobert becomes an RFA to give him a max offer sheet.
To max Leonard, you would probably need to renounce Booker. We can likely have Matthews at $13 million AND Booker which is better for me as a fan. Matthews is just exactly what the team needs and is gettable. No need to be screwing around with this Leonard stuff. . .
Well damn. I'll say this: A starting lineup of Exum (when his body matures a bit especially) Hayward, Leonard, Faves, and Gobert would be damn good defensively.Yeah, this deserves its own thread. Kawhi is the PERFECT player to add to our current starting 5. We have the cap room to try to sign him, so we should swing for the fences. Obviously this deal would have to be extremely toxic to the Spurs in order to have a chance of them not matching. What could Lindsey do that would be allowed?
Agree. Matthews might be a little upset they traded for Afflalo. And he owes us for leaving.
I think we showed him what the future of the WC is going to be going forward: GOBERT or GO HOME!
That was absolutely the funnest Jazz game I have watched in YEARS. No one could score on us and then we started raining down 3's. Who wouldn't want to be a part of that?!

A bit of homerism going on here haha. Hey, is your twitter account @Iamautahjazzfan?
I don't have a twitter account. What a waste of time!
(says the man with nearly 17K posts on a sports board)
No thanks to Leonard. I'd rather have Wes Matthews. Equal defender, better shooter. Leonard, Favors, Gobert = no spacing.
