What's new

Dallas trading Luka to the Lakers for Anthony Davis! Utah involved.

I mean, they have to make a trade right now because they don't have a single viable big man on the roster and LeBron and Luka's games are heavily dependent on having rim running PnR big men who can protect the rim.

Lakers are in big trouble. They have a 270 pound Luka with a bad calf and an "I hate basketball" face whenever he plays now, 40 year old LeBron who can't/won't play off the ball, plus a pu pu platter of midrange-loving meh pieces who don't fit with Doncic at all.

they do -- but they would be fire-saleing a lot of their roster. might make more sense to do in the off-season. At any rate, Lauri is a perfect third option for Kyrie and Davis and I suspect it's incoming

Lauri as a player is a perfect third option for every team in the NBA. Lauri as a max player though, is a perfect third option for almost nobody. Except for a rare team that has a star still on the rookie contract, which includes exactly 3 teams: the Spurs, Magic and OKC.

I've read/listened to a lot of reactions.

Im just glad the Mavs are trying something that isnt "Let's trade our star for a huge asset base and tank to sell our fans hope down the line".

I think a lot of people are underrating Kyrie/AD as a duo and the Mavs supporting cast. Mavericks definitely need another move, but if they thread that needle, they can win a ring this year or next.
Good post. It's refreshing that Luka wasnt traded for garbage and 5 fists.

That's probably accurate. Long-term team building around multiple max players is just impossible now.

Reaves + 2031 unprotected first for Kessler + Svi?

Taking protections off the 2027 first as well.
I would have to at least consider that.
Good trade idea

The protections for the 2027 pick hardly matter anymore....

It's a bad trade. Dont give the Lakers a cheap player that pairs perfectly with Luka that will facilitate them building their team
Good point about the 2027 pick
I would like to see him with those two though and see how it went (plus I'm a LeBron fan wouldn't be upset to see him make another run)

They really should have just gotten every possible pick and it would have made a lot more sense.

I guess I like Reaves more than you do. It’s not the best I was just spitballing. Luka Doncic just got traded bro anything is possible lmao.

-Reeves/garbage salary + 2030 swap/2nd/‘27 protections removed to Utah
-Walker/Clarkson to Indiana
-Myles Turner to Lakers

I have no idea where LA is getting their big from if anywhere elsewhere at all. Their defense is about to be a disaster.

I think this needs to be sweeter for Utah but I think there might be something here. I have no idea where LA is getting their big from if anywhere elsewhere at all. Their defense is about to be a disaster.
Jazz did waive Bamba

While I was pretty negative to the Clippers salary dump, this is probably one of the best salary dumps I've ever seen, lol.

The Jazz got two seconds for taking on one year of a tiny salary. They're probably going to be in the 40s, but this is still a robbery.

Not a franchise changing move, but like finding a $50 on the ground.
