Following Potential 2025 Draftees

I also see where you are coming from, however, there are not many players with Tre's archetype that have been on successful teams as one of the top players. At least I can't think of any. He seems like he will have great offensive stats but doesn't ever go anywhere winning wise
You make good points here. I think there are so many guys like that who are "fine, but nothing special". But we are in the business of gambling here so whatever we choose we cross our fingers and look for the top end outcome.

If I was trying to pick guaranteed solid NBA players I would not have Ace on my top 5 at all.

VJ in my mind is a solid contributor for sure.. but a lot has to happen for him to develop into top tier star.

regardless what anybody thinks of Ace or how the lottery falls, he is a lock for top 3. if the jazz don't get a top 3 pick, if you don't like him, you don't have to worry about him. if you do like him, tough ****.

Is that the archetype, or is that being like 99th percentile of all time at that archetype? You've got the second and third best shooters of all time listed there. I think every archetype is good when you look at the very best.

I think Tre shows signs of being elite. Obviously, he'll need to work hard, but he has a reputation for doing that as well.

Haha, you might be right but I am not so sure.

According to Zach Lowe (he seems to be guy with connections to scouts and front office types), only 1 and 2 are set in stone and 3-10 are "eye of the beholder" in his own words.

Raynaud and Wemby played together in France before Wemby joined the main pro team before he went pro in France. I wonder if the Spurs would look at Raynaud at 14 to reunite them.

If anyone in this draft becomes top 3 all time of what they do, they’ll be fine…that’s not the concern people have with that archetype. Every archetype is fine when you take the elite of the elite.

thanks for posting.

i think he's speaking in terms of should vs will - i will listen and see what i think after that - which if he's basing it on what he himself thinks, i totally get it. I think there are a lot on here that would agree that's where Ace SHOULD be. the reality is he will be top 3.

just listened and lowe is one of the best, if not the best and he is speaking in terms of "will", but i'd be willing to bet anybody and give double odds (not sure how to say it in betting terms, but we bet $20, i only get $10 if i win - i lose, i pay out $20) that bailey goes top 3.

I would definitely bet on DA drafting Ace at 3....there's no doubt that Ace is his type of prospect. I'm sure some other teams may have Ace lower, the Jazz won't be one of them.

Here's what we're drafting:

First pick - HS blue chip that may or may not have disappointed compared to expectations

Second pick - Fat guy

We could "HS blue chip disappointment" three times in this class actually.

Could draft Ace, Denim, and Drake Powell with our three picks. All those guys are in the range of the picks.

I would expect the Jazz to take Ace #3 based on what type of player Ainge likes, but I do wonder if Cody Williams being such a historic bust will make Ainge shy away from "guy who wasn't that successful in college."

Ace was a lot better than Cody Williams was in college (Cody was... Not good in college), but still wasn't great.

We were 3/3 drafting blue chips last draft. Cody, Collier, and Flip were all top 5 RSCI.

yeah, ainge doesn't seem to discriminate - he just loves him some HS blue chips. if the guy was great in college, great. if he underperformed it certainly won't deter him. jaylen brown was similar to bailey in that he wasn't terrible, but he certainly wasn't good (Bailey was quite a bit better, tbh).

jayson tatum's production, in fact, was nearly identical to bailey. the main thing Tatum had over bailey as a prospect - and it's not a small thing - is that he went to the FT line a ****-ton at duke.

both taken 3rd overall by ainge.

If anyone wants to look into second round/two way guys, this is a great article. My big takeaways are that we should go from a dribble/pass/shoot wing who is overqualified role and/or a defensive wing. Those archetypes have the highest success rate. The college role player -> NBA role pipeline isn't great.

Based on what I'm reading here....the guy we should be drafting is:

Jamir Watkins

Aireous Bailey is a player who theoretically contributes to Jazz Championshipdome. He shall throw thy sphere into thy goal from far away, even in circumstances in which “referees” award three, not two, points. He can defend, which in layman’s terms, means that he shall intercede in situations where denial of scoring-type maneuvers make sense. I shall recommend to Daniel Ray Ainge to choose this man, or perhaps VJ Edgecombe, should we “draft” third or 4th.
