    Lockout!!!

honest question - why would the players be hurt by decertification? Isn't the worst case scenario a removal of salary cap and a removal of guaranteed contracts? Isn't that better for the players than accepting whats on the table?

    Lockout!!!

First of all, i don't believe that a restricted cap helps utah at all. If you have a hard cap, then players are just going to go to the places that offer the best lifestyle - teams in big cities. At least in the current system you can keep the talent you grew - if you want to. In...

https://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/32703/the-nba-clings-to-a-fragile-position again utah will not benefit from the new arrangement. it will not happen. even if the owners get their way 100% utah will not benefit.

    Lockout!!!

the average fan can only name 7 or 8 people associated with the nba - none of them is an owner. The owners are just along for the ride. Talent trumps all, and if the owners dont start to respect that, they may find out exactly how fast they can lose 100 million+.

if i were in charge of the players unions i would start collecting 10% dues every year for the next 10 years and then have the players union start their own league. the owners contribute nothing.

    Lockout!!!

    1) utah had the 7th highest payroll last year as one of the smallest markets in the league...how did they expect to make a profit? there is no system possible in which the jazz can maintain that kind of payroll relative to other teams and still be profitable. Any move to a more punitive cap...

    Lockout!!!

ok well in that case...a losing team in a place like milwaukee or sacremento will never make money...those markets just aren't big enough. i'm not sure that lowering players takes to the break even level of the worst franchises is the best way to address this problem. also, the league is...

    Lockout!!!

the league is not losing money. stop it. it defies all logic. everyone admits that revenue is at a record-high. everyone admits that player salaries as a portion of that revenue has held constant over the last 11 years. What are the expenses that are rising so dramatically that the league is...

    Lockout!!!

What people don't seem to realize is that this is an IMPORTANT political issue. in this country we have record corporate profits paired with the highest unemployment in a generation. The question remains is it morally acceptable to take and take and take from your workforce even when you are...
