I am sure some trades will come down that makes me look stupid, but right now aren’t the tea leaves pointing strongly towards a rebuild rather than a retool? Unless we are planning on picking up some killer “win now” pieces by trade (there’s really not much precedent in teams swapping “like for...
What of value did we actually give up for Conley? We basically gave them spare parts, a decent role player in Jae Crowder, and two FRPs, one of which became a nobody and one of which we got back in the Rudy trade (Walker Kessler).
A good argument is that we should have used those same assets to...
I’m excited about seeing Beasley and Vanderbilt, here for a season of Pat Bev, really unsure on Kessler, and super “meh” on Bolmaro (yay…. we now have the two worst FRPs from the 2020 draft..)
I don’t see how we keep Beasley, Clarkson, Beverley, and Conley. At least one of those dudes has to go. Honestly, I think two need to go for some wings.
So here are some other thoughts about why some, potentially, “hate” on Donovan. Again, I think this is a small subset of a subset of that feel this way. My guess is that most Jazz fans think Don is the coolest. But anywaysss…
(1) there was a honeymoon period where Don was all into Utah and all...
If Conley isn’t getting moved, it has to be that his contract is seen as negative value that we’d have to attach picks to. Better to rehab his value and flip him to a contender at the deadline if that is the case.
I like Donovan a lot. Whether we should trade him now depends a lot on the return we get.
I think there’s a vocal minority on this board that hates him. It’s a small subset of a subset.
Hope we don’t trade Clarkson unless it’s for something great. He has my vote for tank commander and would be a really useful piece if we are trying to stay quasi- competitive. He’s also just a good dude.
Clarkson and Beasley seem like pieces it may be nice to keep around til the deadline if the...
Super excited about Vanderbilt. I’m here for one year of Pat Bev if it’s in the cards.
Honestly hope everyone else in the deal is upcoming trade fodder. Would much rather package Kessler with Bogey to get Ayton than one of the picks.
Hoard them picks!
There is DEFINITELY more going on here. We have no perimeter defense and a ****-ton of roster spots right now. I doubt we are planning on filling those spots with minimum dudes.
Whatever the plan is, I hope we hold onto that pick we just got and further add to asset coffers.
